Of course part of it is also looking back and remembering only the good ones (there was plenty of bad ones). Though I tend to agree regardless. There was a strain of some really good shows in the 80's and 90's (both in the US and Japan) which I think has not been matched recently despite a few exceptions like MLPFIM.

That's amazing...brings back the feeling of adventure of finding treasures. It was one of my favorite disney cartoon shows. It was where I was inspired by Uncle Scrooge when he said to work smarter, not harder. That's when he earned his first dollar.

That's a really interesting trick the composer does there at ~0:42. It sounds like it's going to be a secondary dominant going to a 5, but then the composer just sits on it and makes it the new tone center instead. I don't think I've tried that before (wishing I had a keyboard to experiment on now).

Avatar The Last Airbender is the only truly great cartoon I can think of from the last decade...Samurai Jack was very good too but just missed the mark of greatness. As a whole that sense of adventure is definitely gone...I just want to have shows I can feel nostalgic about ten years from now.

@RyokuSensei The Disney Afternoon had very high production values in terms of drawing quality, colors, shading, etc. as compared to most cartoons that are released nowadays in the US (with a few noteable exceptions like Avatar TLAB). They just don't allocate those sorts of resources to televised cartoons anymore. Ducktales was pretty incredible.

@supershigi I'm pretty sure he meant NES, both Ducktales games were made to the NES by Capcom, and gameboy. The one most remember tho, is the first game.

It's not uncommon to accidentally call the NES for SNES, I mean the main difference was the graphics and things are always prettier in our memories ;)
