• yep like someone said before Midtown>Cobra Starship

  • such a fucking great band. Listen to while studying. Greets from Croatia!

  • i would have loved to see these guys play but i couldn't since i was like 12 when they split :(

  • @callmetoocrazy Wow, you're young! Gabe's old...32 ;)

  • @krazywane yep nineteen years young! :)

  • music of my childhood! love these guys sooo much!

  • @callmetoocrazy Me too! I miss Tyler most. I still talk to Gabe and Rob when they're in town or when I'm in NY but Tyler, I never hear from him. Heath, well, hmmm....no idea lol

  • It hurts me to see how you can insult Gabe easily. Midtown wasn't Gabe. Stop talking about him. Get over the fact that they are doing other stuff now. Yes, Midtown is a lot better (coming from someone who loves cobra) but that's it. You can't change anything. Maybe cobra is pointless to you, but not for me, they are great & talented people. Gabe hasn't forgot Midtown, he signed my record 3 weeks ago & he had a huge smile on his face. Let him enjoy what he's doing, stop complaining, stop comparing

  • @rainydayskid Who are you commenting this answer to?

  • @krazywane everyone who's insulting them.

  • Gabe can play a mean bass. Now these lyrics mean something good. Cobra is good too, Midtown is just more, raw.

  • I wish I didnt just didnt stumble on one of Midtowns videos recently. I wish I did a long time ago before they broke up cause this band rocks.

  • @foxyfoxpox Yup

  • i think these guys wouldve had a badass tour with eve 6 and early jimmy eat world

  • Midtown saves. <3

  • lovve diz sonqq:)))

    n gabe is so hott

  • I feel really bad that I just started listening to them. I wish I had known them sooner or be older. Cobra Starship is my favorite band, but this also shows that Gabe has a lot of talent with two different types of music in his career. This is definately my favorite Midtown song. It also doesnt hurt any that Gabe is gorgeous, now and then.

  • @abigailchristie2013 Yes, Mr. Saporta has always been one fine and sexy douche bag!

  • @abigailchristie2013 Sorry but Cobra Starship is crap compared to Midtown.......I've been listen to Midtown before the became popular ( worked on the street team and everything) they were crazy good live as well, not taking anything away from Cobra Starship, I've seen them live as well....... Rocking Show !!!!!

  • @krivo101 It's all relative. Midtown's music had its place and turn in time. But that time has passed, even Gabe has accepted it. I would give anything to see Midtown live again, but oh well, that ship has sank. At least I got to see them over 20 times while they were still around. And Gabe, well, at least he knows I'm alive hahaha

  • @krazywane I'm sorry but you can't compare Midtown to Cobra. Midtown was great musicians writing great songs about life. and it was genuine and real expressions of where Gabe was at. Cobra is a joke. their songs are entirely meaningless and are to make money. Gabe sold out. it's not just a different time, it's different motivation entirely.

  • @gap1501 Well, if you listen to Cobra's earlier albums, you can tell that the goal wasn't to sell out. It was just Gabe having fun and experimenting with new music. I will admit though, they have sold out. But that was recent, so it's unfair for people to say that Cobra was ALWAYS about the money. Overall though, even if Cobra hadn't sold out, Midtown will always be the best of the two. I wish I'd gotten the chance to see them live :(

  • @xochocolatechips we can argue when they sold out all day. I will just say Gabe is the definition of sell out in our generation and I hate him for that. I sincerely wish Cobra would bomb and he would reunite Midtown and have that bomb too. I want no success for him ever again. I wouldn't go to a Midtown reunion show, it would be a hollow pointless cash grab. Glad I saw them back in the day before the selling out and betrayal to the fans.

  • @gap1501 Well you kno what, fuck you then! Block yo ass!!!

  • Gabe <3

  • @c3cile95 Get off my man!!! Jk hahaha, I <3 Gabe, well love to hate him! Jk hahaha, he's a nice douchebag unlike myself and mean and nasty douchebag! ;p

  • I just started listen to midtown and I can already tell that they are going to become one of my favorite bands soon. Love that song.

  • I really fucking miss this band. Glad they were around to make a few albums!

  • Stop posting shitty comments! I will block you and delete the comment, no one will see them again! Fuck off!

  • @cvg1099 Are you a dumbfuck? Empty like the ocean is referring to being drunk, partying, fucking, all of which are pretty much empty! and um... I'm sorry "stupidest?" Don't talk if you DO NOT know how to. Ugh. Seriously. You can't take things so litterally. Music would lose its touch. You must of thought you were smart or something...

  • @cvg1099 lol i can c whos dun their science homework, but honestly dude, its music, not biology and if u dont c the phylosifical meaning behind this title, then evrything u just said makes u sound like a sad dork wiv no taste in music, no friends n no life who just sits around studyin the percentage of water on this planet so how about u shut the fuck up n stop dissing them!

  • @saffievilvampire Hahaha, I blocked his ass...he posted comments on my page, deleted as well :D

  • I like the music, but I'm not a fan of his voice. I find it very annoying. It's a shame, really... :/

  • This is a wonderful song! I love Gabe and I support whatever he does, I do have to admit I am a fangster, but i'll always have a different love for Midtown than Cobra.

  • This is in my top 5 midtown songs definitely.

  • can some one give their interpetation of this song...i need someone elses opiniun. he sounds heartbroken yet angry. lost confused

  • @joejonas1811 why? what does it mean for you? literal meaning? hidden subtext? songs from forget what you know has too many multiple meanings, what matters is how you find it applicable to yourself. if you had asked me what i thought of this song back in 2004, i would not give the same answer today. pm me what you think it means....maybe i'll pass along the discussion to latin lover boy for his constructive breakdown of your interpretation ;)

  • @krazywane I think it may have something to do with a bad breakup and then he's at some party and sees her there

  • @joejonas1811 or maybe the complete dissolution of the human existence and left with only isolation and an uncertain salvation? just kidding, hahaha, such a tragedy of the human condition indeed...wait, did i just quote a title in this text? i'm so retarded and weird, hahaha

  • whatever gabe does is amazing. period.

  • Great song from a great album.

  • I like cobra starship but i loveeeeee midtown.

  • Gabe has a very addicting voice.

  • 2:19 aaahh! future signature move!!!!

  • lol...they're actually good :P...and they're not my type of music...WHAT?!

  • i wish gabe would carry his base around when with cobra starship...

  • оmg. it's amazing. i miss midtown so much.

  • I love Cobra Starship but I seriously miss seeing Gabe with a bass in his hands...I miss midtown :(

  • I miss them too

  • this song so amazing

  • Love them... amazing band.. And the guys in MCR like them too *-----------*

  • i like them SO much better than cobra starship.

  • Wow, this is great. I haven't listened to Midtown before but I'm truly impressed. Cobra's cool. But this music is amazing.

  • i miss midtownnnnn:(

  • Perfect Band <3

  • they remind me of fall out boy's old music for some reason. but still great. i really wish i could have seen them live. :(

  • Pete was a huge fan of Midtown, so the influence seeped into old FOB.

  • i love midtown

  • Everyone's having fun, and that's what matters.Gabe's enjoying Cobra and the other members are enjoying their own acts and lives.Gabe himself said he felt the need to break away from the type of lyrics and song he wrote in FWYK because they were too personal.Cobra's ok, but I don't take them as seriously because they are supposed to be more of a "fun band". I wish I'd got to see Midtown, but I was too young at that time to 1)appreciate this music or 2)go to the shows. I envy you old people, lol.

  • Hey, still not as old as Gabe!!! Grandpa still has a leg up on me there, hahaha

  • @Swiftlygothedays I'm only 20 and I saw them in 2004 (I was 14). GREAT experience; I actually got asked to hang out with Heath after the show at the merch table but stupid me passed it up to hug lostprophets since they threatened to kick this guys ass for punching me in the crowd. good times!

to me both Midtown and Cobra are great reflections of Gabe's music ability. People say he's changed since then but he really hasn't. People just don't bother to look hard enough...

  • @BDPJenn I saw them about 10 times live in 2004! Los Angeles Troubadour Feb 2004, Detroit, Pomona, San Diego all in May 2004, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania August 2004, New York Nov 2004, New Jersey Dec 2004. No wonder they call me "krazy"! Hahaha, Gabe has not changed, other than articulating his responses in impromtu interviews more cautiously as to not recreate another Drive-Thru incident, LOL.

  • @BDPJenn

Well, you're still an old person! I kid! I kid..Sounds like good times, ahaha.

Yeah, I'll agree with the Gabe not changing thing. i saw his face on a huge banner while buying a dress at Macy's. Many would have said, "Oh noes! Gabe izzz selllings outs!" Sure he's more popular and famous now, but he's still got that same genuine smile, which says a lot to me. I still respect him very much.

  • Mind. Blown.

  • Gabe is now the lead for Cobra Starship. Also pretty good music, but no Midtown... :(

  • Uhm gabe hasnt changed? Maybe the clothes he wore and friends he hangs out with but Ive liked him since midtown

  • Midtowns amazing and so is cobra starship

  • even though i love cobra, i dont hink theyve ever put out a solid album.

theyve had alot of great songs but spread out between three albums(like 3 or 4 good songs on each)

even though i heard of them through viva la cobra its defitely theyre worst, it just sounded half-assed to me.

midtown is the final thing that convinces me i was born at least six years too late all these bands that have become my favourites were popular before i was really old enough to be into my own music.

    fuck 1994 xD

  • Hahaha, yeah it does suck. Wow, you're only 15, omg.

  • Yeah, what do you mean by "Only fifteen" haha.

  • Most 15 year olds don't understand what good pop-punk is. Haha, props to you man.

  • Ha, I guess...I'm into a lot of genres but pop-punks probably the one I'm most into.

Whenever I TRY to get my friends into some of the music I listen to they somehow end up in Cute is What We Aim For territory.

    uuuhg.

  • Take no offense but yeah that dude got it correct, many 15 years old believe themselves to know everything and are the center of the world..wait until reality kicks in and well yeah, hahaha.

  • None taken haha.

  • Girl, fuck 1993 too. :((

  • ha man this is funny cuz i dont do this but guys i get on here watch vids of bands i listen to bands i listened to when i was growing up and i see people freakin out cuz they broke up and went to another band guys its just music get over it who cares

  • What?

  • Shame on you Shivani!

Cobra is a awesome band. I support them 100% because they've gotten so big. Gabe's having a good time with it, so as fans of Midtown and Cobra we should be happy like he is.

  • Hey now, one can still like Gabe Saporta but not necessarily like CS.

I like Pirates of the Caribbean but I'm not a fan of Kiera whatever her face is whom always does those period piece movies. If she does another period piece, I'm going to vomit! Hahaha.

  • I'm pretty sure even Gabe admits that what he's doing with Cobra is pretty ridiculous. Take another look at the lyrics to "Being From New Jersey..."

  • Yes, I agree.

  • Midtown's good...Cobra's awesome...

stop it with the hating you guys...:)

  • Heath used to be in my favorite band Senes Fail But he left after warped tour this year=(

  • Heath Is Still The Best!

No Matter What No On Cant Replace Him!!!!

    Senses Fail And Midtown Rules!!!!

  • Yeah! I am in love with those bands=D i don't like cobra starship though=P

  • luv it, luv it, luv it.

  • goooood sonn(:

going on my ipod this minutee.

  • you guys are all blaming the break up on Gabe's movement to Cobra Starship.

  • one of the best bands ever...

  • GABE SAPORTA IS AMAZING

  • where the hell did this band go...ahh brings so many memories..

  • I know, right? They were so good. D=

I still like Cobra, but they're a joke.

They're fun to listen to, but Midtown is so much better.

  • yah and gabe is like so much younger and so much cuter:)

  • where did this band go? well they broke up and now gabe's in cobra starship but i wish they were together again :(

  • you know whats annoying?

this whole "aw boo mainstream" thing.

uh. it wouldnt be in existance if some douche didnt say hey thats...

and then people wouldnt be all aw cobras mainstream.

    uh nt rly.

  • Cobra is more about fun and saying eff it with everyone, it's not meant to be taken seriously. But I agree, I've heard Hot Mess is really a hot mess, hahaha.

  • lol it is a hot mess indeedy, but this song when I heard it was was like no way GABE sang this?! GABEEE lol I only heard of cobra stuff first. but i love this old stuff, cobra needs a darker edge, buts its fun

  • you guys are basically calling cobra shit, because of the fact Gabe is now in it. I love Midtown, and Cobra is fantastic and yes, a lot of fun. The break up of Midtown could not have possibly been purely because of Gabe's decision.. right?

  • it was a mutual decision.

    it got boring for them.

gabe didn't leave to make cobra.

  • yeah, cobra was a side project for gabe. and he enjoyed it and continued it. basically telling the people below not to hate on cobra because of the fact gabes in it instead of midtown.

  • They could have, but I think the whole Drive Thru Records fiasco left a sour note on many people's tongue and then many bands boomed right after that. The scene changed so fast, Midtown had been around since 1998 and I think their "height" was around 2001-2003. I hate that people say they are like other bands, they are not, sure they have some heart break songs, but there was always deeper meaning behind the lyrics. And the last album was amazing, very dark and deep.

  • But they are! Sixteen years old and under wanting to jump a 30 yrs old man's ass, hahaha, I mean he maybe hot and he may be sexy but don't plan on having hot sex with him, hahahahaha.

  • I like the Midtown fans more than many of the Cobra ones. Those little girls are freaky, hahaha.

  • geeez everytime I hear a Midtown song it makes me sad Gabe is running around is that horrible Cobra Startship band....come on man come back to some real music.

  • Well you cannot really blame him. Many fans abandoned Midtown in the later years. Many shows were empty and did not sell out. I know, I went to over a dozen shows in 2004 from West to East. Gabe had to find another muse for his time.

  • 2:22 awesome!!!

  • gabe saporta SIEMPRE AH SIDO SEXY xD ♥ loamo :3

  • well i recently became a fan of cobra starship and then found out about this too .. totally different O.o wiht gabe and all

  • i love this band ... ♥

  • I have fallen in love with Midtown

  • Who wouldn't? Hahaha.

  • lol freaks!!

  • But they don't count, they are brainless, tasteless, resource wasting excuse for a living organism, hahahaha.

  • ha ha true

  • Midtown could have been so big. </3

  • Yeah, could have but oh well, I guess that era is long gone now.

  • nah. I think they would have been indie for the rest of their careers or the music scene's best kept secret. now if pete wentz signed them then yes; they would have been the biggest act on decaydance. I love midtown though, honest music by honest people

  • Ahhh. Midtown.

One of the best bands ever. I dont care that they broke up.

Midtown's awesome, and will always be awesome.

  • Let me reiterate this for the few who seem to believe this is an open forum and discussion: Comments here are heavily biased towards Midtown and in a positive tone only. Any discussion about Gabe, Tyler, Rob and Heath in Midtown or their other projects are welcomed only to the extent that one does not compare any better than the other. At my discretion, I shall block/delete any comments that steps outside this restriction. Why? Because I can, if you do not agree, do not comment.

  • FYI, I have been moderating these post for nearly 3 years and shall continue to do so...and yes, I have nothing better to do with my time then to annoy the heck out of ignorant teenagers who cannot spell nor use proper English!

  • haha.

  • lol butthurt channel owner

  • Somebody has to do it...and in this case, me, hahaha.

  • Agreed! Oh well.

  • does anybody else think gabe did the whole music career thing totally backwards?

he had the really fucking amazing and serious band with good music and real emotion first when all the midtown boys were young.

then gabe, at almost thirty, started doing drugs (more openly? idk if he was as narcotic-dependant during the midtown years) and formed the weird synth-pop goofy band with shitty lyrics and tacky wardrobes.

i don't understand why somebody didn't stop him and be like WTF are you thinking?

  • oh noes! didn't mean to influence a billion butthurt comments.

i was making a joke! kind of. not really.

this is meant to be a funny-but-true statement guiseee jeeeezzz.

  • Gabe has managed to have to good, successful bands. The versitility he has is admirable. It may be weird, shitty and tacky but it's successful, it's gone frther than Midtown has. Both are great bands. And the bigger concern is his alcoholism.

  • alcoholism?

  • Hahaha, have you seen a drunken Gabe...on stage? Back on the Reggie tour of 2003, Gabe was so wasted, he couldn't even stand, let alone play his bass...someone from MCR or some band had to cover for his ass.

And there was a time long ago when Gabe passed out in the middle of a street, too wasted to even find his way back to the van. Hahaha, there's no alcoholism there of course, it's just Gabe being Gabe.

  • A Drunken Gabe?

    Haha. I've heard stories.

But it's like you said. Its Gabe being Gabe.

But I can't believe he was so wasted that they had to get someone from MCR or another band to cover for him.

    Hahaha.

  • D: gabe is awesome.

    And this band. It's great.

    He's so serious.

  • i love seeing Gabe with a bass it just ups his awesomeness level!!!!

  • His awesomeness only improves with age...at least until he's walking with a cane...oh wait, that already happened, hahaha.

  • gabe looks and sounds so different than he does now. like he's still crazy amazing and i love cobra and midtown, but i just dont feel like theyre the same person (i know they are, dont worry, i'm not stupid.)

  • i'm asking myself when they will come back to play their last concert in new jersey gabe promised. should be soon.

  • Oh he's made many many many promises...when I see it, I'll believe it, hahaha.

  • Everyone's talking about how Gabe has changed and how he's this alter ego now.

Well, I'm a rather new fan (got into Cobra Starship last summer, got into Midtown around Christmas) and I'd like it if someone could explain the difference to me :)

I don't know because I just listen to the music and see the difference there, but I don't really watch their interviews.

  • um well. he didnt really change that much. his dress style changed. he seems happier now. thats about it.

hes still just as amazing even though i do miss bass player gabe, but cobra gabe dances so it kinda makes up for it.

  • Bass Gabe is Awesome Gabe. Cobra Gabe is Sexy Gabe. AS far as I know, Gabe is a Babe! A Damn fine one at that, hahaha.

  • AGREED!

  • Ditto, what that person said. His "Cobra" side always existed, but the band is an outlet for him to express it without compromising more "depth" and "important" things, if there exist such a thing, hahaha. If you've followed his career for as long as I have, you know, he's pretty much the same, maybe a few wrinkles showing up, jk, HAHAHAHA.

  • Oh, okay, thanks.

As much as I would have loved to know Midtown when they were a band, I was eight when they broke up, so yeah.

Don't judge me on my age, I can't control it.

  • That would make you 11 or 12 then right? Since the last show Midtown performed as a group was sometime in 2005...maybe early 2006, I'm forgetting much in my old old old age...and Gabe is older than me, lol.

  • hahah, shit, i'm so bad at math. I'm fifteen.

I wasn't sure of when they broke up, and wiki said 2004. I mistakenly thought 2004-1994 was eight. I added the fours.

that's what happens when i get no sleep.

  • Hahaha. When it comes to wiki, always error on the side of caution and assume it is most likely is incorrect. I know 2004 is definitely wrong because I saw them at the Downtown on Long Island in early 2005 (that place of course has shutdown, not sure if something new opened in its place). They were suppose to play a brief set in June of 2006 in Jersey for a release of some DVD, but Gabe bailed to head out to LA to film the video for "Bring It" or "Snakes on a Plane".

  • i saw the few last shows, i was may 2005.

  • Hahaha, and it was that summer when "Hollaback Boy" or "Hollerback Boy" the spoof to Gwen Stefani's song was released online and the simple Cobra Starship Myspace page was made. Oh how time flies....

  • hah yes, he made the myspace like during the last tour. cobra kinda over lapped with midtown in a werid sense. i remember like my last days of highschool playing hollaback boy to people thinking it was the best thing ever.

wane i got a video mission for you, the halloween 2005 interview on fuse with gabe and rob. i remember not answering to the door to like 10 kids and turning off the lights in my house to watch it. its got to be out there somewhere.

  • OMG, I had an Organic Chemistry Exam the next day so I probably forgot to watch it. Dude, they have so many interviews that I didn't record. Like the Sirius Radio one they did Summer 2003. They played some cover songs, one of which was released...Sister Golden Hair. I do have the Live performance of Give It Up where Nicole Richie was also there being interviewed prior to Midtown playing but it's on VHS and a shitty copy at best.

  • i can rip vhs if you want it up

  • Hahaha, one day...for now it's collecting dust somewhere in one of my boxes from the VHS era.

  • Okay, thanks for setting me straight :)

  • 3:01

    random...

    i luv this band

  • Hahaha.

    SCENE 117

    OMITTED

    Heath Scared to

    Ride Between Subway Cars

  • why doesn't gabe play bass ever anymore with cobra starship??

    that would kick ass, yo.

  • Most likely a different persona he's trying to portray. There are some clips of him on here, taken from stickam when the guys were in the mountains working on the album, where he did play an acoustic guitar, at least he remembers to play, right? Hahaha.

  • yesh, Gabe is AMAZING on bass but Ryland is the AMAZING bass player in CS...., <33

  • Imagine Gabe playing on guitar for Saves the Day? Oh wait, it never happened...hahaha, they turned him down.

  • this is my favorite song from midtown...

wish i sould have gone to one their conserts... :(

  • ohh, i knwo eh?? i would love to go to a Midtown concert. speaking of concerts, people should go to Taste of Chaos . It was unbelievable!!! && cant wait for Warped '09!

  • Sucks Cobra isn't going to be on this year's lineup.

  • I really wish I knew this band when they were still together. I really love this band and song.

  • Yup. They are amazing...are because I still have faith that one day the four of them will get it together and just rock and roll.

  • I hope so. =)

  • wait

    so

are you saying that gabe saporta conforms to the demands of the public?

rather than doing what he wants ?

    just to be popular?

    im not mad or anything

    im just confused
