@schumiistweltmeister Uh, the transaxle used in many 924's were actually Porsche derived.

Early 924's had the Audi motor and Audi 4-speed, then they moved to the Porsche 5-speed before going back to the Audi 5-speed.

The 944 used the Audi gearbox almost exclusively.

The bottom line? The 914 and 924 were projects/collaborations with VW that Porsche took on to provide a low-cost entry into the Sportscar world. They also helped keep Porsche afloat.
