And thanks for commenting about my work. I really appreciate your comments on my music. You really understand what it's about, and I see you know the craft. Thanks for not giving thumbs down to the other commenters too.
I certainly hope the "remix" you are talking about isn't mine, for I sequenced it, and didn't use any audio (aside from the part with the Samus appearing BGM from Zero Mission).
Really like the synths. They are so very high quality synth bass. The hats and tambourines don't get deducted quality either in this video.... How did you circumvent that? Nor does the bass have a "wooping" sound directly after the keys for it is played. 5/5
The synths are not only pretty good - they're also free. XD
Dunno how the quality stays high, maybe it's a combination of good audio quality and mixing to start with, and maybe some iMovie->YouTube uploading protocols.
Then the bass, the "woop" is probably a result of overcompression/side-chaining, the "woop" being the volume returning to normal after being pushed down by the bass. Not sure what you mean by "woop", that's just my guess. No overcompression here tho.
I've noticed on some videos, even professional quality videos, there are "wooping" sounds after the bass. Although, I must also add that that sound occurs only when the bass is a sine wave. Can't believe the synth was free. Excellent track, nonetheless.
Still not sure what you mean by woop. Bass drop, side chain compression, or just how the kick and bass alternate in some songs? All of these are a matter of taste, tho.
Think it has something to do with Youtube's compression method, makes sine bass and kick drums sound distorted. This tune was exempt from that and sounds crystal clear.
Well, I upload my stuff through iMovie, using wav for the audio. I guess most people upload stuff based on mp3, and those are usually at around a tenth of the quality. Our ears can't really tell the difference that well, but add another compression/encoding on top of that and the sound quality is noticeably in the toilet. Technically speaking.
afaik, KORE does its own internal processing, but you're right in that this could have been better had I given it more time and attention. Just wanted it done quickly. Not a good mixing attitude, but a fun one that gets these youtubed remixes done. XD Thanks for the crits, glad you liked it.
That last part applies to everyone who liked it. XD
Thanks. Gonna add a link to KORE player and the place I got the drum samples from to the vid description, makes it easier for others to find some free stuff to work with.
You wanna try a one-hour remix? I didn't aim to make it a short one, but got inspired and had a decent thing when I stopped after about one hour. See how fast you make make a decent mix. XD
Didn't I give you some starter info on another vid? Get Reaper or another DAW, get KORE player, get a soundfont player, get whatever free soundfonts and VST and VSTi you can find, there's lots of them on the net. Learn to write. Learn to mix. Listen to music that's written and mixed well. Practice. Let ppl listen, ask what they think. When they say you suck, ask why. If they know what they're talking about they should also know what you can do to improve.
Once you know the basics (notes, in boxes, on tracks, with instrument, and effects) it'll be easier from then on. or harder, depending on good your ears are. XD
Well, you'll want to learn to make midi regions and put notes into the regions and assign virtual instruments to the tracks first of all. I'm sure google knows something about that. ;D
It needs to last longer, make an extendend version! ^^

Wow...that is exactly what I do.... Damn those MP3's...
I will most certainly try WAV next video.. Thanks for the encoding reminder, man.

I think a few of the instruments here could have used some more tweaking, some of them sound like there was no adjusting from the original sample.
But hey, it still sounds good, I like a lot of the ornamentation, maybe try adding in different drums and hi-hats so it doesn't sound too repetitive.

Anyway, awesome remix, especially for the fact it only took you one hour! I'm impressed again!
