I agree that why breakfast not on botanical garden or circular quay... but you said nothing to see in Australia, except opera house and blue mountains, you are totally wrong.. you must have not been out of Sydney... Australia is worldly known in Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, Tasmania, Outback, n more importantly the easy going n open Aussie n open door BBQ in parks, so many things to do .... I have been to many places in Australia n still craving to be back again and again
I completely argee with tommyaceshow's comment, inconveniencing a lot of people for the benefit of a few.
Tourists are not going to come to Sydney/Australia because of the publicity of Harbour Bridge breakfast. There has to be more reasons, real reasons to come here to visit. After visiting Opera House, Three Sisters there are not much else to do. We don't have a lot history to be a place of interest. All other activities they can do back in their countries. Australia is a place you visit once.
truely pointless, just like World youth day - why ? - Cause it temporarily benefits a select few, while shutting out 10s of 1000s of residents and upscaled traffic, how about offer them free tea waiting on our traffic jams from the m2 or maybe you can take away toll for one day only, it would have the same effect but more people would be happier to be able to spend $12 for their family they have to feed.
I'm sorry but I don't get the "experience" bit. Why not have breakfast on the top of the Opera House next year? And what's with the real grass? Please, if you want to sit on real grass and and sit in any garden/park.
I'm into quirky, fantasy and envelope pushing stuff but that's just one stupid and inconvienent idea. It is nothing more than PR for NSW Tourism.
Why breakfast on the bridge? I think it is a stupid idea and a major inconvenience to a large number of people. Wouldn't it be a better idea to have breakfast in Botanic Garden or the harbour foreshore? You get a better view, better ground and a better experience for everyone, in the Garden/harbour edge.
You don't get the harbour view from the middle of the bridge. You can have the same experience and view from the pedestrian footpath on the bridge.
umm its a sick idea, why wouldnt u agree with it? who cares u can go to the botanical gardern or harbour foreshore anytime? u cant have brekkie on REAL GRASS on a Globally well known icon - its hardly bout the view mate its about the experience n went off - i happened to build it n bump it out n was like nothin ive ever seen.. looks like it will be on next year

Umm, it was clearly a PR event for Sydney/NSW tourism. That's what it was designed to be. It was part of the Crave Sydney festival.

"Around 40 per cent of the 10,620sqm of kikuyu turf laid down for the event will be transferred to parkland at Sydney Olympic Park.
The rest will be sold by the supplier to the community."
