  • Good fun. Does anyone know the name of the tune?

  • From Alan Winston: "A 'Hoy' is a ferryboat; Margate is a seaport town on the East coast of England."

  • This is one of my Civil War dances.

  • Would love to know how and why its called the Margate Hoy

  • No idea. In my notes it is from the year 1753.

  • In Margate here in Kent UK we had a 18th century Boat called the Margate Hoy.

  • How fun! This is so different from other vintage dances I've seen. I wish I had been there to experience this. Thanks for posting it.

  • this ball looks like a whole lot of fun... a little crazy too. :D
