I think Pete Seeger was a communist (a small "c', not a capital "C") in the best sense of the word.
If anything, it is the hardcore hippies and Democratic politicians who've screwed up Pete's vision of communism. I honestly believe he didn't want to overthrow the government, but see to it that laws were passed where townspeople looked after one-another rather than keeping the ultra-harsh, Darwinistic mode of "survival of the fittest" as the status-quo..
