@nickhansbauer- you can download a plugin for a 50 point garbage mask!

yeah, you can get those 50 pointers but they are a hassle and a pain.

couldn't i get the same effect, by just using a vignette, and feathering the edges? PLEASE someone answer! -i just really wish final cut supported unlimited masking points instead of just 4/8:-(

The is no image holder showing (the place where you place the gradient) I'm using final cut pro 6.

Great tutorial. What if I want to put that image on top of another background? How can I do that so the gradient blends into the background instead of into a black rectangle?
