Johnny, you continue to be one of my favorite conga instructors on you tube. I'm always impressed by your ability to give information with precission, clarity and respect. Please continue to share your conga skill sets. Would like to see and hear your take on teaching conga improvosations. Many different teaching approaches, eg. Master class' Michael Spiro. Thanks again.
Clave: A spanish word meaning key, the clave is serving as a skeletal rhythmic figure around which the different drums and percussion are played. ...that is the name of the instrument La Clave-the 'key' to playing Afro-Cuban and Latin music...
Thus, when someone who is a native Spanish speaker with a recognized teaching qualification confirms the definition for me I will believe them, bow my head and say “thank you, master”.
Well, thank you for that simple, unsubstantiated statement of fact. For me, seeing is believing. I have taught languages all my life since my early 20's, own some of the very best English, Portuguese, German, Italian, French, Latin, Greek and Spanish dictionaries, used by language teachers (yes, with higher degrees!) and in none of them is "clave" defined as the name of a musical instrument.
Hi there! I'm Rick, Anglo-Brazilian, and ex-professional musician in Brazil, speak perfect Portuguese, pretty good Spanish and a few other languages. I think there may be some confusion. Clave = Key (see most dictionaries). Hence, clave de fa = key of F (major), clave de sol = key of G (major), etc. In Spanish, as in Portuguese, ritmo 3 por 2, ritmo de rumba, ritmo de samba, etc. determine the rhythm a percussionist plays. I think somebody may have misinformed you... Regards, Rick.
Are you suggesting this man is not INCREDIBLY boring? You should only teach music if you have a passion for it. This man clearly does not. He'd rather not be doing the video. Therefore I'd rather have someone else teach me. Mind your own business and let a man have an opinion.
Maybe if you'd have spent 45 years trying to learn to read and spell instead, you'd be able to differentiate between words such as "your" and "you're". That post was not only full of twelve year-old "text speak" but also grammatical errors - "u wish u will have done as much for the drum"...? Are you crazy?
I love the way you capitalised (or 'capitalized' as you may spell it) your stage name. Johnny Conga? Do me a favour. Grow up. You're at least 45 years old! Hahaha. Regards, Danny Boring. ^_^
Aww, bless, you should re-post that comment, I actually quite liked it!
You speak Bronx? First of all, squire, we're not speaking, we're typing. Secondly, if I went to a school in The Bronx, I bet they wouldn't teach me to spell "you" as "u". Nor "you're" as "your".
I like the new addition to your name, by the way - CRAZY Johnny Conga! That has a nice ring to it! I think I need an adjective to describe myself...
I have much to learn? Like what? I don't even know what you're talking about anymore. I never commented on your drumming or expertise. I merely said you were boring. Which you are. In my experience, music teachers are a lot more passionate about what they do. Regardless, I don't want to understand you "Crazee fhrum Da Bronks"... I can understand the desire to spell words differently to abbreviate them, but you're just extending them unnecessarily! You're a strange man, Mr. Conga. Very strange.
Hey Camberwhateverinthefuk, your like the kid who stands up in class and farts for attention, just because the 2/3 clave boggles your mind and you're jealous that you don't have your own video, dont hate, there's plenty of sites like "Hannah Montana" and the "Jonas bros." that would prove more entertaining for you. Who knows you might even stand a chance in hell of winning an arguement there.....PUTO!!!....GET THE F--K OUT OF MY CLASSROOM!!!! (go ahead Johnny, "U" got the floor)
