"Thinking how they spend 30 million dollars on head holding airplanes, when there's kids starving" surely if you'd spend that much on aircraft carriers, you wouldnt mind me hustlin & flowin out them screams ahead of time .F.O.T.N. thanks I'd rather lysten to pops on this ride then to hear your mouth
They need to bring this ride BACK!! They can do it now, like the one they have at Tokyo, where it's not even underwater. The bubbles are in a pane of glass in the portal and some are projected, along with some sealife being projections mixed with animatronics. The "sub" is actually on a track and it gyrates and moves to give it a real floating movement. It also moves more people trough than the original. It's an AWESOME ride!! Look it up: 20,000 Leagues Tokyo DisneySea.
@charlieemk1 A lot of the times, the props are recycled as display pieces in certain parts of the parks, like rides, restaurants and giftshops, or shipped to other Disney parks, around the world for the same purposes.
I think I recall here rumors about the giant squid robot malfunctions alot and it not acting the sub when it was to supposed to. I had a similar problem one a recent trip with t he haunted massion ride. It stop moving a couple of times mid way through a couple of the ghost holigram were not working right.
@08WSChamps i think i read it on one of the disney park blogs and i think they have some vacant space on the right hand side where vmk central used to be but im not quite sure
fantasy lands for kids and theyre trying to draw a bigger crowd, but theyre not doing much for teenagers or adults. (also toon town fair is going to be knocked down which kind of sucks too, it was nice to walk around and take in the atmosphere i liked the back passage to tomorrowland). The expansion will include something special of each original princess a double dumboo ride and a little circus style atmosphere which i think is a lil weird 4 disney. i cnt wait to see what itll look like but i
I was 3 when i 1st went 2 disney world, i dnt think i was on this with my parents. but i do remember seeing its progression as we went back every other yr. wish it was still around so i culdve enjoyed it. the pooh thing completely killed the integrity and the beautiful scenery of this ride. Idk if any1 else has heard but fantasyland is undergoing one of its biggest expansions since the parks open in 71' and there will be another lake unfort it will be another little mermaid ride. i understand
So, I didn't go to Disneyworld until I was four, and by then the ride was closed, so I never went on this ride, so I have a question:
How were the seating arrangements?
And btw. My grandfather has footage of the exterior of this ride taken less than ten years after Disney World opened! And it's taken from the former skyway!
@BramGroatFilms 40 per sub total, 20 on each side of the sub running from the bow to the stern. The port and starboard sides were divided by the central fixture that the seats were attached to. Circular vinyl-topped seats, spring-loaded onto the seat-backs and so held down by your weight.
I remember feeling pretty uneasy, if not downright frightened, during this ride too. and I swear to this day I saw a real shark swimming outside my window. this was back in the early '90s. but the one in Disneyland is pretty cool because it's still in operation, but it now has a Finding Nemo theme.
well, theres no way to judge corporate weirdos decisions. But, I think it's because most kids now days (including me) don't know about the 20000 movie, and because its way past its prime with the same running cost. I really dont understand why they didn't replace it w/ anything.
@TiPpYtOeS1989 That's at Disneyland. At Disney World 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was turned into a Winnie the Pooh playground. Both Nemo and Pooh don't live up to what they replaced though.
@TiPpYtOeS1989 Incorrect. The submarines at Disneyland turned into Finding Nemo. This area however was left vacant until it was turned into Pooh's Playful Spot. That area is now closed on it is currently being turned into the new Fantasyland Forest area
Actually, it was about the cost. The lagoon was filled with 11.5 million gallons of water which had to be drained regularly to repaint the chlorine and UV damaged coral and other scenery.
It's deff the sweetest ride, I love the creepy organ music and the sound of the captains voice it's so Disney. Never actually got to ride it though, closed two years after I was born. It's such a shame that they replaced such a good ride with that crappy pooh's playground, I was just at Disney last year and I was like WTF!?
The SKYWAY is gone. That is the bucket like ride suspended from a wire. Where as the TTA (Tomorrowland Transit Authority) is STILL there. That is the ride where you take a tour above Tomorrowland and go through Space Mountain.
Sadly, the Skyway is gone as well. They closed that just a year or two after 20,000 Leagues. The good news here is that Pooh Corner takes up a tiny fraction of 20k's space; the rest will almost definitely be developed into an extention of Fantasyland, with a new ride or two.
The skyway has been removed as well; closed just a year or two after the subs. With luck, the enormous amount of space left will be turned into a Fantasyland extension.
Genius video...I miss this ride terribly...I get a bit depressed when I see how its former site has been wasted in WDW.
there are a number of sites dedicated to the ride and interviews with former 'cast members' who drove the subs and worked the docks. The subs were a nightmare to keep seaworthy.
I could not agree more. This was a classic ride. To pave over the area and put a lame Winnie the Pooh playground is the worst example of everthing wrong with Disneyworld today. They should never tamper with the classics.Sad beyond words.
um... I'm sad to inform you that 20,000 Leagues is the ride at Disney WORLD!!! While the Submarine Ride, which IS now nemo is at DisneyLAND!! They are too completely different places... hence one is in Florida and one is in California. Go look at Disney World and you'll see that Pooh Corner does exist...
I am from california so I enjoy the submarine finding nemo better than this..jů§ť ßãÿîňğ...
