You're absolutely right, as far as angle of deflection goes, the kevlar helmet offers a much, much better chance of survival than the old steel pot helmets. A rifle round into a steel helmet will produce a hole pretty much wherever it hits, regardless of the angle. Kevlar, on the other hand, does offer a chance of deflection. The moder helmets were definitely not designed to defeat a direct impact from a 7.62 round.

No standard helmet can protect u from head shot even if its strong enough to stop round, impact will breack ur neck.
Helmet is very usefull thing in combat cuz all sorts of shit could fell no ur head, but its not there to protect u from bullet:)

Correct, but sometimes the Kevlar helmet has been shown to be able to protect (or at least reduce the impact) from a rifle round, showing that on rare incidents if does give you more then Level II protection. It could simply be favourable angle of impact (beyond the angle required to produce deflection) and other factors rather then the kevlar itself.

You're absolutely right, as far as angle of deflection goes, the kevlar helmet offers a much, much better chance of survival than the old steel pot helmets. A rifle round into a steel helmet will produce a hole pretty much wherever it hits, regardless of the angle. Kevlar, on the other hand, does offer a chance of deflection. The moder helmets were definitely not designed to defeat a direct impact from a 7.62 round.

Profanum88's right. Kevlar helmets are not built to take a rifle round. Not three hits, not one hit. The only pieces of body armor capable of taking direct 7.62mm AK rounds are Small Arms Protective Insert (SAPI) plates that go inside standard-issue flak jackets.

They should take 25% of the Iraqi Oil Revenue and give it in direct cash payments to the citizens on a per house hold basis. If they have a stake in keeping the oil flowing and a piece of the pie they will create secondary markets for goods and services.
