I was planning to put up this track as well as a performance of the same song by me (with accompaniment by a modern kinnor or Hebrew lyre), and with appropriate commentary, but meanwhile thanks for your effort. :) This was the first song I heard on recording by Esther Lamandier, back when this was produced on LP. On the Web site "The Music of the Bible Revealed" you'll see a beautiful photo of the artist much closer to her actual current age.

The album "Chants chrétiens araméens" is a totally different album, as probably already has been said. That's why the commentary above is in error. I own "Romances" as well as "Chants chrétiens araméens" - in fact I own all of Esther's albums and correspond with her on occasion as she also sang much of Suzanne Haik-Vantoura's material. But I'm glad you put this up all the same. :)

This is my favourite as I also have "sufriendo del amor" history and also my other favourite is "rhozinkes mit mandeln" in Yiddish, its about life being bitter/sweet. Ladino is the old Castilliano language before Spain as a country existed. All the Jews and Moors were told to leave by the king and queen who wanted a completely Christian country with the Inquisition spying on ex Jews

Really, the language used in this song, is a mixture of the ancient Spanish and Hebrew spoken by the Sephardic Jews. Un recuerdo precioso de la España del Siglo XV aún vivo en muchos hijos de Israel.

@jackeroo08 The CD is entirely Sephardic except the 3 songs at the end that are Christian songs in Aramaic...and they are beautiful as well. she has a wonderful voice. I bout it at Hatikvah music in Los Angeles...they have a web site...

The commentary is totally erroneous. The song is not early Christian but Jewish from the time of the Jewish expulsion from Spain and the language is not Aramaic, but Ladino, the language, a mixture of old Spanish and Hebrew spoken by Sephardic Jews.
