I was comparing this car to my current car a 1997 park avenue ultra 250hp 3.8 supercharged, (same class) , and on paper this thing roar's 260hp from a 3.6 v6, 6 speed auto. I was just wondering does this have steering wheel mounted controls for the radio, volume, and climate control? And does it a head's up display that projects my current speed on the windshield. I'm seriously considering this car when my buick goes under . thanks
I think the plain, weak character of the exterior is great, since it's a blank canvas to do some custom paint, maybe some serious pin-striping or custom chrome trim on the sides. The luxe interior: I see this model as the "poor man's Maebach". Maybe it just needs a little pimping: dark tinted windows, rear fender skirts, replace the grill with a better design and, if retaining the silver tone paint, add a custom silver hood ornament. On the other hand: Low-profile luxury is a great thing.
The door at my dads avalon for the navigation controls broke and it really feels plastic and the navigation system could be improved but otherwise this car show's pure strength in every situation
These guys are crazy. The Avalon looks great. Maybe I think it looks great because I'm not too interested in showing off. This car is amazing. Why buy a Benz, BMW, Lexus when you can get an Avalon for less?
its really a great car, actually i owned a 2008 limited, and its got everything... what i like the most is the rain sensing wipers, i also have the dynamic laser cruise control. power rear sunshade that automatically go down when reversing and goes up again when in driving mode....ohhhh i love this car...
Very hard to pick. Depends on what you need in a car. Both have prestige and semi-luxury. Depends on what you look for in a car. You want the luxury badge and a tad (not a great bit) sportier, you go Lexus. However, if you want a limo-like amount of room, a smooth ride, a larger trunk, use of regular fuel, and want to save maybe a few thousand at most, it is Avalon all of the way. Still, both are great choices.
When i first saw the Avalon i didn't like it much because I always owned European cars, but i have to be honest when i drove the Avalon it took my breath away, the car felt so good that i didn't think it twice and i bought a 2005 XLS Avalon. This car is a very powerful car you have to drive it to believe. And to my surprise i find out that 2005 model have 285hp compare to the new 2009 model that have 268hp. This car is a Lexus with Toyota's body, go whit the Avalon you no going to regret it.
I was lucky enough to stumble across this car when I got it as a rental. I instantly fell in love with it. Just a great, great car. Most definitely eyeing it as my next vehicle...
I just bought my first Toyota and it is the 2008 Avalon XLS and I just love it. I think it does stand out and I get looks all the time. I traded in a 2007 Honda Element SC (Talk about a car that gets looks) But I wanted large and luxury with quality. Too bad some German Cars that I also considered were not as trustworthy. Go Avalon! It is worth every penny!
The Avalon does stand out it is a very nice and sexy car for its great price. I would buy it over Lexus. I own one and its great. If your looking for a luxury car but dont want to spend a lot of money, go with the Avalon its worth it.
best car in the full-size class. Just as large as the Luxury Lexus LS460 at about 20K less and with more leg room front and rear, better gas mileage. Definitely a great pick.
i want this car!!!!

Honda's "top of the line flag ship" is the Accord V6...Which is stupid.

Too bad Honda doesn't make a Top of the line luxury vehicle, though if they did it'd probably just be an Acura TSX clone.

great car. Get the bang for the buck with this. Just as large as an LS460 at about
20-25K less. Also has more interior space (surprisingly) and of course better fuel economy being a 6 instead of an 8.

You've made a great choice. The German cars are extremely unreliable anyway.
