I'm sure someone, somewhere is at a desk trying to fix this problem. or else theres gonna be a lot of pissed off gamers when CRT's become fully obsolete. Duck Hunt is one of the greatests arcade shooters of all time.
now what if you hook it up to a hdtv's analog and switch to the analog input then does it work i wanna get a old nes console i miss mine. and just wondering if not if i can find a nes someday and rebuy it's getting hooked up to the old fashion tv out in the living room. not my hdtv in my bedorom
@gadgetfreak197444 No. It doesn't matter, analog or digital, it won't work because of the input lag, and even if there isn't any, the backlight isn't strong enough to trigger the sensors on the zapper. But you can buy a Wii, download it from virtual console and play.
An LCD doesn't really do a good job at displaying true blacks and the Zapper is reliant on high contrast between black and white in order to register targets.
A modern LCD television may implement video processing, such as scaling and deinterlacing, to the video signal from the NES. This processing can impart a slight delay on the video, which will disrupt the timing between the video feed and the zapper.
Im sad I can't get this to work on my TV. It is a HDTV, but
1) It is a CRT, not an LCD
2) Interlaced games look a lot better on the TV than they do for LCD or Plasma (Which of course could be due to the CRT type screen instead of LCD type screen)
I bought an old Nintendo pretty much with the sole intention of playing games like Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley. I may need to get an old cheap TV so I can enjoy the games... I wonder if it would work with my CRT PC monitor by hooking into an input.
I HAVE THE PERFECT SOLUTION FOR THIS! SO IT WILL ALWAYS WORK!!!!!!!!!!!
use an old tv. god. stop trying to hack it to make it work on an hd tv or an lcd or a plasma. just use an old tv. its the same thing but without the hassle of all that crap.
True, but there's nothing wrong with having one there anyway. since you would naturally stop after saying it, and it could also stand by itself. Also, that comment's 2 years old so i don't really care.
@PatrickTheHattrick92 Seeing as you replied to his comment which was over a year old at the time I don't think that argument has any relevance, oh and "since" should be capitalized as its the start of a new sentence, well actually it isn't but you put a period (full stop) there so you are saying it is, you should have just put a comma.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuck i just bought a 32" lcd to play this shit!!! fuuuuuck!!!! and i also bought a new zapper and a power glove fuuuuck!!! guess i'm stuck with fucking halo 3!!! (which is gonna rock!!!)
Due to the Zapper's technological limitations, it is not compatible with HDTVs. The video processing built into a HDTV (scaling, upconverting) can cause a time delay of several frames with the picture output by the console so that even well-aimed shots, which would register as "true" on standard televisions, almost always fail as a result of this time latency.
dude the the glove from the movie the wizard were the kids a fucking genius video kid wizz or whatever u had to move your hand to move the chararacter it sucked well i couldn't use it very well and it i dont remember using it much but i remember it looked cool
Wait-the Zapper on NES was motion sensitive? Then this was like the seeds for Wii! So- why waste time with a gamecube if they could have made a Wii a long time ago?
No no, it wasn't motion sensitive. Whenever you fired the gun the screen would consist of 2 colors for a frame or two, one for the duck(s) and one for the rest of the screen. If the duck's color was in the gun's Field of view, it registered as a hit.
It may sound crazy, but when I tried if the gun really works it turned out to be quite random. I shot out of the room, I shot in my leg, I shot in my head, even with my hand around the gun's hole. It shot the duck most of the times, without me even trying to aim it at the TV.
Well, the way the gun works is by pointing it at the TV, and then the gun sensing the little white dot the TV makes... So it could be the gun is picking up a different light source.
The screen goes all black for one frame, then goes all black except for a white box where the duck is for one frame, then it goes back to normal. The first black screen gives the gun a good contrast and then it will pick up the white square if it is pointing at it in the second frame.
I'm playing this right now!

A couple of reasons on why:

Come on, you remember the POWER GLOVE, that was motion sensitive, but unfortunatly the technology didn't allow for the smoothness of the today WII .

There shouldn't be a problem with the Zapper on an LCD screen. The Super Scope for the SNES on the other hand, will not work.
