i want a boost in volume but not gain for jazz if i get any gain im going to through this pedal into the crowd. will it give a lot of gain through the increase volume?

it didnt really change tone except for the fact that when you turn up volume tone changes on any guitar.......

@TheStyrofoamPeanut Yeah, its a clean boost. You can use it for solos, highlighting rhythm parts or crank it up on your clean channel to push your tubes to break-up (saturate).

I like to use boosters on humbuckers and OD's on single coils. Humbuckers already have the drive and sustain, just need to boost it. What is great about this pedal is that there is really no color to the boost it adds. Dime the thing and it adds crunch anyways.
