will this work on crack on 4x4's and 2x6's. i just had 3 decks made and they are 5 weeks old and they are all cracking up on some of the 4x4's they have some 1/2in wide cracks in them
I recently picked up set of wooden chairs from a yard sale. One of the chair arms has been chewed up by the family pet, and I had thought about sanding the arms on the whole set down so that they would be the same, but that's a lot more work than I had planned on putting into this project. Is there a way to use wood putty to remold just the end of the arm that was chewed, and will I be able to stain it so it blends with the rest of the chair?.
this is a very good tutorial for filling in holes but i would like to know how you can fix a stained drawer with chemical damage to it because i have looked for lots of tutorials and i would ask someone from a store or something but i am olny 14 years old so please if you can respond back if you find the time ... please!!!! thx
great video, thanks. What is the strongest wood filler for re-drilling a hole?
I've got a post bushing in my electric guitar that I have popped out and want to fill in. After that, I intend to re-drill a smaller hole in order to anchor in a smaller bushing / post. The 2 new posts will need to hold down the bridge of the guitar against the string tension and vibrato bends...so it has to be tight and strong. I was told at home depot to get plastic wood filler...that it is the strongest. thnx!
@oneguyincalifornia LOL i'm basically searching for the same reason as you my friend.. but i just want to reposition my studs without them being loose and grind the trem cavity like 5 hairs over because i think my high E string is a tad to close to the edge of the neck thus easily slipping off =/ some good wood filler and minor sanding should do the trick i just don't know what to use for the wood. have you found a good solution yet?
@oneguyincalifornia actually i just found this stuff called 'Brummer wood filler' while searching google and it sounds like the way to go... i just hope i can find this stuff in home depot or something..
@m3tallih0lic Did you try the Brummer? I need to fill & re-drill some tremolo-claw screw holes on a new guitar and want to get it right the first time!
@oneguyincalifornia Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm trying to fill and re-drill tremolo-claw screws in a new guitar and want to get it right the first time!
I live in a very old apartment complex and wanted to use a wood filler to fill these enormous holes in the wood. It's not really that the wood is holy you can feel and see clearly the lines in the wood like it's slowly rotting away. Will wood filler fill up this problem or should I contact a specialist?
wow thanks!!! this is great. but like what if you have wood. that is not stained yet, i have sanded it and i wanna fill it.. and fill a big line not a hole... and match the fill with the stain? help?
I have an area approx. 8 inches in diameter where the sofa bed has left quarter size indentations in the floor. do i have to refinish the entire living room floor or will this technique work on something sized as described above? Help!!
@star1scream No - anything much larger than the head of a finishing nail will be immediately apparent. The area you fill will look like a big brown plastic disc embedded in the floor. Depending on how deep your indentations are, you might have other options if you're desperate to avoid reflooring.
Not well. Contact a wizard furniture repair specialist that works with hard lacquer and a small box that contains an alcohol lamp. Keep calling until you locate someone who has this equipment.
Seen a lot of videos for wood filler and that's all well and good, but what do you use for repairing a shipped edge where you would need to reshape the chunk to match the original edge geometry?
What if the edge was less than an inch wide and about half a centimeter deep? In other words, not huge. Can any of these products actually serve as geometric filler and be molded/reshaped once dried?
That putty is awesome. We just installed new maple hardwood floors and we used that exact stuff to fill in the nail holes and now you can't even see them.
hey dude, all i can say is thanks for posting such videos. it makes life hell lot easier then reading text on how to do stuffs and trying to follow them.
I have this problem removing a broken screw. I have this broken screw where the top is missing and its just the screw inside the wood. Unfortunately the owner of the guitar superglued the screw inside the wood. So i have a broken screw that is superglued into the wood. How would I remove it and is it possible to fill the hole in the wood with something so i can re screw it?
Minwax now makes a product (made mostly of latex, I believe) that is designed and in fact guaranteed to accept oil-based wood stains...so they say. Have you ever tried it? And if so, would you say it stands up to its promise? I wonder what the dofferences are between that and the product you were using - which I noticed was also by Minwax.
Honeybuns, there are different putties that contain different vehicles that keep them moist. There is no one magic silver-bullet answer. How about an 800 # on the label or a URL? Always contact the manufacturer of products as to how to use them. Get the precise info from them.
Hi Tim. What are the differences between Wood Putty, Wall filler, Painter's putty, etc? I'm confused whenever I go to Ace or HandyMan hardware. For example, according to the label, Wall Filler can be used also for wood cracks or imperfections, etc. I just don't know how to select. I will use it for constructing my personal book shelf in my room. Please advise. Thank you very much.

Awesome video. Maybe fix the volume of instruction vs. volume of narration discrepancy though.

This method will not work. You'll end up with discs of solid color.

Thanks

Watch my video on screw extractors. Your job will be really difficult.

can you fill in holes so you can re-screw something back in?
immmspicy 3 years ago
You can, but the screw will not hold well. Install a real wood plug instead using yellow glue.

Look on the putty label for the way to keep it moist.

Well, if it was there, then I wouldn't have asked you sweetie.
