  • Man.....DW makes good drummers sound even better.. One day I wanna be in that position

  • @YOUNGKINGSENT2012 We welcome you anytime! Thanks for watching!

  • Sound nicer than mine cause those are vlt I bought a used 1998 collector and It sound well on bass drum and snare but tom sound too high for me cause they seem to not be built in bottom... but the kit look very nice with gold (or brass???) hardware on... and the snare throw off doesnt low the chain enough :s... when i'll have cash i'll buy a new one but I cant afford them for now

  • @krannification Well you still have a great kit either way! Just remember that the VLT and all SSC are options and plenty of customers these days are ordering the same style kit as you 98 kit. You can upgrade your throw off to the Mag Throw off to your snare also!

  • SHUT UP AND PLAY !!!

  • Clive Owen + Kevin spacey = Jimmy Chamberlin.

    Just joking.

  • musical discussions about music. nice.

  • @Fruggawugga Makes sense right? :)

  • @Fruggawugga that's what i said when i first saw it Lol

  • @MarkieB89 :)

  • this dude like refuses to age. heroin does a body good i guess.....

  • with those pinkys...... how.....

  • @empdrums22 It's the "proper" technique we hear. :) It obviously works right?!?

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Technically speaking, it's not "proper", but I personally discourage the efforts of teachers to make what is considered to be "proper" technique mandatory. I feel that drummers should play in the manner that he/she feels most comfortable with, which in Jimmy's case, seems to be with loose pinkies. The people commenting on his technique are a perfect example of drummer who have been brainwashed to think that only one grip is correct. It's saddening, honestly.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Well said but we don't want you to be sad. :) We totally believe in the "whatever works as long as you are having fun and not injuring yourself" outlook.

  • Jimmy - "...Eh"

  • what kind of mic setup are you guys using in these videos?

  • @nooneimportant77 nevermind... i could've just looked a little harder.

  • @nooneimportant77 No problem!

  • He's good a drumming :P

  • Hey DW, could you please please please upload a video on the PDP Mini Timbales (both sizes)? I'm really interested in getting those but not before hearing it first, and I'm buying it online and there's no audio sample or anything. Thanks!

  • @MetalAlbatross Thanks for your interest in the PDP Mini Timbales. Unfortunately we can upload a video right away for you. Where are you located exactly? Have you tried to located these timbales from your local authorized PDP dealer?

    ://bit(dot)ly/v7qPFu

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I'm in Singapore, where the only PDP dealer does not have the mini timbales to try out. Also, they jacked up the prices of their stuff to around twice the RRP; they're selling the PDP Ace 14 x 5 for SGD$480. The reputation of that shop is pretty bad and I saw this white PDP snare that looked like a blackout (the lugs and all), but I couldn't find the model name, only a badge that says PDP, and they did a horrible white paint job over it, selling it for $400+ as well.

  • @MetalAlbatross Sorry to hear the dealer pricing is where it's at for you.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc btw I sent an email last week to you guys regarding the shop jacking up the prices and carrying very limited selections of PDP products but I received no reply :(

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Oh and I forgot, by "very limited selection" I mean the only Blackout snare drum they had was a 13 x 4, and they only have ONE of it, and they were putting a $300 price tag on it :( I couldn't find it online too (those that carried it did not offer shipping to Singapore) and would really love to buy a 10 x 6 blackout. Please help us Singaporean PDP fans!

  • @MetalAlbatross We are doing our best to remedy the situation there for you. We want you to have PDP drums and to continue having fun drumming.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Thanks so much guys, I'm really looking forward to being able to get my hands on more pdp stuff!

  • Jimmy is an amazing drummer.... DW makes amazing looking, sounding in your face drums and i want a DW drums that is all!!

  • fine art!!! in other words ur going to spend some good money!!!

  • Thats a beauty!

Both Thomas Lang and Jimmy Chamberlin Play DW... All i can say is: They can't be wrong!

  • @sebas404 They know what's up right?!?

  • @DrumWorkshopInc They really do!

  • Yeah, I'd buy that set only to have it as a beautiful work of art to rest my eyes on!

  • @IamErock Rested eyes relax better! Thanks for your feedback!

  • kevin spacey at drums

  • why did he stop using yamaha?

  • I care about finger technique, but who the hell cares when an amazing player like Jimmy plays like this!? This is secondary.

  • @valeriogchannel Well said!

  • that kit sounds amazing, so does the drummer

  • WHY BILLIY??? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????

  • @Thecrafter994 it wasn't just Billy

  • @mrsmithcolin175 I know....i know :(

  • you're amazing but keep your left pinky in!!

  • @DrumVideoDaily That's the proper technique isn't it? :)

  • @DrumVideoDaily Wellobviously he is still a badass doing that and I am the same. All of that crap is just that, crap. Jimmy is the man!

  • I saw Peter Erskine many times live. I did see a video of him playing the DW jazz kit. The DW kit I own I use for my rock band but I've played jazz with it also. I just like a small bebop size kit tuned higher for jazz playing. I will check out the video. Keep up the great work

  • @331paradiddle Nice! Saw you commented. Have a great weekend!

  • I have a DW collector series kit I bought a few years ago. There really arent any other kits that sound as good for rock as far as Im concerned. I use a Yamaha Maple Custom for jazz and I really like that as well. You cant go wrong with a DW kit no matter what style or sound you are looking for.

  • @331paradiddle Great feedback Mr. Paradiddle. Have you seen our Peter Erskine Jazz Series video yet? ://bit(dot)ly/zX1bLY

    Thanks for your comments!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc you guys gotta check out alex preiss.

    he uses your hardware!

  • @Clancedrums We will thanks much!

  • In my local drum conservatory they have a DW collector series kit and it feels and sounds amazing.

They sound so rich and amazing!

My next kit will be a DW kit, NO DOUPT!

  • @xMatt182x We are stoked to hear you are liking DW drums! We would love to make you a kit someday.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I dream about dw. as soon as I have the money i will buy a dw kit!

  • DW seems to have the most even volume from drum to drum. The snare's not too loud and abrasive, the bass drum isn't dead and lost, etc. This is huge advantage for playing small venues where the drums are not amplified.

  • @JazzyJonas We want our drums to sound great without any mics. This way when it's time to record or play live with mics it's just that much easier. :)

  • excellent drummer mr. Jimmy Chamberlin & impressive craftmanship by DW company, cheers! x0]

  • @tornmask1 Thanks very much! Cheers to you!

  • Lol you can tell he came up with all of that on the spot. I wish i could afford DW :(

  • @SPHSdrumline He did ok though right? ;)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc indeed

  • I want a DW kit!!!!!!!!!

  • @teasdalea1 We want you to have one!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I've been playing for almost two years. I'd say I'm a mid-range drummer. What kit would you recommend?

  • @teasdalea1 Well a PDP kit could go well or you could look into the Performance Series also. We have some new things coming out towards the end of this month so stay tuned!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Great. Can I buy these kits from your website?

  • @teasdalea1 I want a Jimmy Chamberlin!!!!!!!!!

  • What I respect is that Chamberlin doesn't do what a lot of famous people do, like sell out, advertise a product which they wouldn't necessarily ''drink'' ''eat'' ''use the aftershave'' etc but here, you see his passion for this product, the craftsmanship, the time and effort that has gone into these drums, and he knows that.

  • @ElsolraSaul We like that too. Thanks. :)

  • I love his old pumpkin drum work on those old records

  • @TheColdcut74 True!

  • Jimmy switched from yamaha because they are not moving forward? lol perhaps...1:20

  • @themusicmatterz We are happy to hear your feedback for Jimmy. Thanks for watching. We are very lucky to have him playing DW. :)

  • Still makes me drool!

  • @blissfulchild101 We'll get you a DW bib then. :) Thanks!

  • dw copies everything from SONOR, to a tee..... even the holes in the front head, jeeeez...

  • @BigRooster747 they must be doing something that Sonor isn't to have convinced Roddy and Lang to switch...

  • I don't like the sound of the snare.

  • tune that snare tighter

  • furniture quality craftmanship....cant escape that carpenters perception of the world can you jimmy lol

  • @killbotone He's quite a wood worker we hear. :)

  • @killbotone LOL You're soo funny man!!! I was thinking the same way...

  • How much is Jimmy's kit?

  • @FrenchRockNRolla7 Always best to check with your authorized DW drums dealer. We do any pricing or direct sales from our factory here. Check the specs on Jimmy's kit below.

Vertical Zebra Exotic Candy Black Fade with Black Nickel Hardware.

    18x23 (VLX), 9x10 (VLT), 10x12 (VLT), 14x14 (X), 16x16 (VLX), with 6.5x14 Straight VLT Snare.

  • Any1 know of a live concert video of TSP from around the release of MCATIS? Torrent or otherwise, as long as its downloadable. PLS pm me :D

  • He looks so much like Clive Owen.

  • Clearly he was trying to do an 'ode to Buddy Rich' with some of that flamming between the toms and snare at the beginning. I remember reading an interview he did with MD, back when Smashing Pumpkins released, and were touring behind the Melancholy record. And he made a reference to being inspired by Buddy (aren't we all). If anyone can answer: was he using a double-bass pedal or just a single bass-pedal? He supposedly had a double when he used to play Yamaha drums.

  • @ZacksPlace2010 Nice post. Yeah we could see how Jimmy's playing is influenced by Buddy Rich too. Jimmy's got that classic style that can go with a lot of different types of music. We are lucky too have him!

He does play a 5000 double pedal. He has used the double heel less pedal and the accelerator.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Interesting. How long has he been playing DW drums? I DO think he makes a great spokesperson for your product and I am a huge fan of your product as well!

  • Wasn't this guy all about Yamaha drums???

  • And to think he's the drummer on the pumpkins' "Gish"....

  • @KurdtKobain09 You know it!

  • @KurdtKobain09 my favorite album by them.......was lucky enough to sit front row at a Jimmy Chamberlin clinic in Greensboro, NC ....dude blew my mind............saw these guys at the American Theater in St. Louis, 92. Pearl Jam opened, Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined......smashing pumpkins rocked

  • @hegotallofthatone What a show that 92 must have been! :)

  • Didn't know Clive Owen was such a complete artist

  • how much for a bebop set with an extra floor tom, same dimensions as this one with no exotic finish?

  • @Zeth0711 The price depends on what finish type you want exactly. We do not do pricing really from the factory here. Best call is too decide on what finish type you want and contact your local authorized DW dealer. A dealer can help you with the pricing and ordering info.

  • why isn't jimmy playin' the yamahas anymore? i think yamaha makes great drums

  • @kingtoadius kind of a sell out if you ask me

  • Jimmy will always be a Yamaha guy in my book. DW is great but Jimmy's played Yamaha since like '88. Always!

  • 2:02 "Musical discussions about music."

    Jimmy cracks me up.

  • @TribalLeprechaun Yeah that is definitely a conversation about music. :)

  • i can see why the drummer isnt supposed to talk ...lol

  • DW is awsome i play um myself

  • @MrKanucks Thanks for being a part of the DW family!

  • hey DW, you offered Benny Greb a 200% endorsement and a car to sign with you yet? :P

  • @SuperDrummerJoe Lol! He does throw down for sure!

  • where can i get a pair of those rubber sticks??!?!?!?!

  • @420jaymac From your local drum shop!

  • @eletronovo Thanks for your feedback! You can get Jazz shells in any size we offer. Have a great weekend!

  • how much did this kit cost?

  • @Zeth0711 From an authorized DW should be around $6800. This is an Exotic finish for us so it is at the top of the price range. It is always best to check with your local DW dealer about pricing and ordering info.

  • how much could be some shure sm57... a mixer and some audio interface + a netbook computer... come on dw! we want GOOD SOUND on your videos... not just camera sound!

  • If David Letterman has another drum solo week, I'd be disappointed to not see him for the third time.

  • @TheSilverhawaiian He would go great on that show! I hear Dave is pretty good too. :)

  • Wow what a great sounding drum set. I will upgrade from my Yamaha drums to this when I have enough money lol :D

  • @samelhombre :)

  • After twenty years he is still one my favo drummer !! Please stop talking about that Cobus guy. Jimmy is the man !! What band is he playing in at the moment ??

  • @purgie Most recently he has played bands Skysaw and This. :)

  • Because Im thinking of ordering a full vlt kit to take all the kit one step lower equally...

  • @zzzoraktube An SSC kit would do that trick for you. What sizes are you interested in exactly?

  • @DrumWorkshopInc toms 10 (fast), 13 (fast), 16x16, and 22x20 kick. I was hoping to keep that "opened" "ringy" sound all through out the kit but just one "step" lower with out going into the x, vlx shells and turning it into an hybrid kit. I was hoping to get that extra low end with the depths selected on the floor tom and kick and not the shell configuration so I would keep it even through out the kit. Or something like that. Its all just all theory in my head. So I could use the input please

  • @zzzoraktube Best configuration is below. These shells will not have hoops keeping the tone more open.

    8x10 - VLT

    10x13 - VLT

    16x16 - X

    20x22 - VLX

  • So he ordered a Full VLT kit?

  • Greatest rock drummer of all time.

  • @jimdeebassist We like your opinion!

  • @fightertrainer We do agree. The Zoom mic has proven to pull out quality recordings for this type of closed room situation AND for example, the Showroom videos also where it was an open room with a lot of gear in it. Agreeing to agree! :)

  • Dat left pinky.

All joking aside, JC is one of my all time most influential drummers.

  • @iutri :)

  • @MrJoshkeefe Great question! The mic we used is a Zoom brand mic. The model number is an HVN. They work great for room recordings.

  • Do a Contest & Drum Giveaway DW!!! Pretty please please : )

  • @sjdrumlab Stay tuned for a possible DW hardware contest. Also check out our Gallery Tour schedule at dwdrums(dot)com. We are giving away a snare per tour stop!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Awesome, U can have drummers upload their contest entry video showcasing skills & on why they choose DW. The winner gets a factory tour, possibly new kit or hardware. That be rad, common, u guys are DfreakinW! - Jay. sjdl

  • @sjdrumlab Good idea. Hmmmm...Thanks for your input!

  • Chamberlin and Chad Smith are probably the best drummers around at the moment.

  • tight the snare!!

  • on ya Jimmy

  • What happened to Yamaha? Twenty years then bam DW.

  • My god... he really is one of the most amazing drummers of all time.

  • @gitterfritter Definitely! He really has great chops and great feel. Super nice guy to boot!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc

hey, when does cobus' kit comes up in the kitbuilder, artist roster etc.?

  • @clance13 Very soon we promise!

  • @clance13 COBUS? REALLY?

  • @kurt2890 YES! COBUS! REALLY!

  • @TravisBags The finish is a Twisted Zebra Exotic with a Natural to Black Fade. The darker part of the fade is on the bottom(or resonant) of the toms and the bass drum has the darker part of the fade is on the batter side. Great to hear you loving the Kitbuilder. We love hearing that!

  • DW is on top because they listen to the players on all levels and really research drummer issues. They have the "whatever it takes" to make quality gear happen attitude.

  • @hollydazetribute Thanks! It helps having guys like Jimmy giving their feedback. We get so many great and useful suggestions and comments from our customers also. This is what has helped so much in keeping us going for all these years.

  • One of the greatest of all time.

  • @ObeseChess So true!!

  • I've always said this guy is the Bill Bruford of the 90's

  • @sebadrum16 Well said! I can drink to that!

  • Great man.

  • Great groove player!!!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I know this isn't related to the video, but I was wondering why you decided to discontinue the PDP 805 and Platinum kits?

  • @CANdavidFLY We think any question is related. :) We actually discontinued making the 805 series to make room for the Platinum series. We already had a birch series with FS like the 805. Platinum we have not officially disco'd but they are on a long lead time since moving them here to Oxnard because of the closing down our Mexico plant where they were being made originally.

  • That finish is SO sexy.

  • Jimmy…oh so eloquent…I have watched you evolve since day one in Parkview to now and I have to say that you have exceeded all expectations as a past student of both Charly Adams AND your brother Paul who too, is a phenom. You know who this is…Steve N.

  • Comment removed

  • Woah when will we know more about his new kit?! The finish and the shell structure sound very cool, also interested in what bearing edges they got. Not a fan of the single 45 myself :/

  • @hendrixfan57 it is the standard single 45. However, you could custom order any bearing edge you like. The kit is still in production (see, even the artists have to wait, haha), but when it's done we'll post a thing about it for ya ;)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc wow had no idea you guys could do any bearing edge! i guess my 10+6 maple will need some friends... cant choose between a jazz series, super solid, or an edge, so maybe ill just have to get them all haha! A gold finished edge with a solid satin finished purpleheart center has always been the dream for me - THAT would be pure perfection. Anyway, thanks for the response! really looking forward to jimmy's new kit, im sure itll be worth the wait for everyone :D

  • @hendrixfan57 can a drummer ever have too many snares? ;)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc ahaha i intend to find out!
