Greg Fields on drums, after Duffy Jackson. What happened to Greg? Duffy's CD's still on Amazon. Love you Joe. Where's Dennis Roland now? Greg told me him and Grover (bassist) would listen to Zappa at the back of the bus. Bill was not fond of that. Funny. I love this band.
Both Bill and Joe are staging, rehearsing and touring a new Choir and Instrumental Orchestra at an arts venue called The House of the Father playing for The King of Glory-Hallelujah. Well Alright!
Where's Freddie Greene? A cornerstone of the Basie rhythm section sound... I see his guitar sitting on the stand, and his empty chair.. Where the heck is he? Freddie! Get out there and play those fabulous rhythm chords!
Count Basie and Joe Williams, a match made in heaven! "Williams Sings, Basie Swings" an all time classic album! Big band, jazz, swing, blues you name it. My favorite Basie album!
Joe Williams could outsing every other jazz singer of all time. He's to male jazz vocalists what Ella was to female jazz vocalists. He sang like he was just breathing. Absolutely no effort. In person he's even more impressive.
I get to preform this song today, as the vocalist. :)

Watch Basie’s face in admiration for this singer. It occurs around 2:48 seconds into this piece. Rest in Heaven Joe.

There is only one Joe Williams- I fortunate to see him perform in Beverly Hills at a local park celebration-and was the BOMB-such a great talent.
