I have always wanted to see and have imagined a video for this song. You did a beautiful job. I was hoping to find something like this on Veterans' Day.
I remember being treated like !@#$# while on my way home via JFK in New York in 1970. Just got mustered out on 23 Dec 1970. The average U.S. citizen hated all U.S. servicemen. They had no understanding of the real deal whatsoever. You can thank the U.S. media for loosing the war in Vietnam and spreading lies for there own means!! I hate the media!!
@leesherman100 Lee, I am so sorry for the idiots who treated you and every other brave US serviceman so bad. Your mission was so important, and the stupid US media was then, and still is now, under the control of the enemy. Propaganda is a very effective weapon. We pulled out of south Vietnam even though we were winning. We sacrificed so many, just to give up and walk away! The people of Vietnam now suffer in silence under Marxist rule, and US borrows $ from China!
Who said wild dudes who drink heavily couldn't make something beautiful? Lemmy only messed up in one part: no one will be forgotten even if they have no name, face or uniform. That you can trust in. This brought tears to my eyes, great job.
i heard this song, on an album by a heavy metal group called motorhead, it took me by surprise , what a real tribute. I never was there, it was long before my time, but it did happen, and i know of it, and i listened, and even though never being directly effected by the war, i wept , as God is my witness, i felt what the songs message sent. God bless all who gave their very all for their freedom!
Wrong. Even if they have just a tombstone with no name on it, even if their remains could fit in a shoe-box, I repeat : they will never, EVER be forgotten.
"But to those in power the only time a commoners name matters is when it suits their needs"
Sure. But that wont prevent us, commoners, high or low on the social ladder, to remember. And imho, that is the n°1 important thing, when it comes to our History. Sure those in power can help or hinder this duty of memory, but the main part is still up to us.
Well, even if their remains are unidentified, there's at least a name, somewhere on an old army paper, stating that pfc Mc whatshisname, sgt dunnohim are reported missing.
Even if the corpse found back some 90 years later is a nameless one, he is, somehow, remembered.
@Briselance I actually remember your names normally & if I don't, I look it up...you will never be forgotten, at least not by me...my husband spent 22 years in
peace ANZACS they finally found you boys and gave you the proper distinction respect and grattitude you deserve as well as a proper resting place after so long
Eclipsed in memory by WW2, the "Great War" was in fact the most brutal episode in human history, far surpassing even the horrors of Nazi death camps. It introduced the machine gun, heavy artillery and poison gas in massive quantities---mustard gas, chlorine gas, phosgene (nerve) gas---hundreds of thousands of tons of the stuff was used. In one battle alone, the First Battle of the Somme, more than a million men died and at the end of it no ground had been gained by either side.
cant blame the leaders of countries,,cant blame god,,cant blame evil dictators,,you kill ,,murder or you dont,,you join an army or you dont,,there is a choice,,wars exist cos people get sucked into the idea of being in an army is noble and necessary,,its not ,,its a con,,normal people just want to get on with life,,but leaders can wage war because they have armies,,and why do they have armies ,,sad to say cos idiots want to join,,all those children left without daddies. sick,,and lords live.
Indeed, it is. Saying the contrary would be utterly false, for it all depends on the cause defended by the army.
"cos idiots want to join"
Would you dare to go in a cemetry, somewhere in Normandy, in the Ardennes, in the Somme or even at Gallipoli and yell "you joined ? You were all idiots" to the hundreds of soldiers buried there ?
As I stated in the Info section, I am not intentionally leaving anyone out. That's why it's dedicated to all that fought and lost their lives regardless of what side or nationality. Thanks for viewing, and the comment though.
great, great work on this video. it shows a little part of the hell our great grand fathers went through to give us the freedom we now have; no matter on what side they were, it was running for death. we lost the last WW1 veteran a few years ago here in Canada, but a lot of scars still remains. let`s hope for peace so we never see this again.
Actually, I found most of the movies on public domain sites while I was doing research for a story I am working on. They touched me enough to do this video. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the comments. I don't know what will happen in the future. But, I do know it has nothing to do with God. Other than using his name as the reason. Maybe if that stops, then we can stop war as well.
No, but also Germany wasn't entirely to blame either. All teh major nations in the war fell under the entangling alliances they made with each other. England Russia and Germany were pulled into the war by the alliaces they had made with smaller countries, especially when these countries were attacked or attacked one another. And if they had known what the costs would be, I'm sure peace would have found a way.
It will never be. As long as humans will be, there will be things and ideals to defend, to stand for. Things and ideals worth killing, fighting and dying for.

Looking at these pictures, and listening to the greatest song (and most emotional) of Motorhead's, I have to say this:
Those brave men, women and children who fought and died in that war, did more in their dinner time than we'll ever hope to do in our entire lives.
May such tragic events never be repeated, and may there never be a reason to make war "acceptable".
This song clearly shows that we glorify war too much, and that children will die in the process. Thanks for the upload ^_^
