  • I've always loved when he does the really high bits in this song, it's so incredible. It sounds so different from his regular singing voice, who would expect him to be able to do that? He is God.

  • does everybody know terry?well this is terry

  • wuajajaja pobre charlie! xd jajajaja

  • He's definitely great but I love him in Oasis with Liam and Andy, as well as singing solo with Gem. He has an amazing voice and is a great song writer. Which ever way the wind blows : )

  • surviving if he can, but only if he can

  • Perfect.

  • A fantastic song, and I love Noels voice, but I have to say that the original sung by Liam is even much better.

  • @th125mx It only sounds better because Noel was doing incredible rhythm singing. If Noel was singing with himself on the studio track, it would sound fucking awesome too!

  • this is unreal

  • That's why he's The Chief

  • Noel's vocal range is really quite something special

  • The acoustics at 2:35 to 2:43 are exceptional. I'm surprised Gem and Terri could keep up. Noel is an exceptional musician.

  • Noels acoustic performances all top all of the studio versions with the exception of cast no shaddow....on the studio version the brothers harmonies are out of this world....i remember hearing it for the first time in 96.....it still amazes me

  • I love this song so much. Noel is so complex, I wish I could ask him what it all means.

  • The song is about being invisible, and how someone who is invisible thus cast no shadow and people do not notice him. He wrote it about someone from another band though I don't remember who. I saw it on an interview, so basically the whole tune is a medaphore.

  • Actually the song was originally written for Richard Ashcroft of The Verve, at that time Noel Gallagher thought he was a man who had several issues about his whole life and he faced life in a way he liked to do it.

  • Yes Catney, but who is the "they" that "took his soul" and "stole his pride"? And is the sun he faced that cast no shadow the literal "sun" or the figurative "Son"?

  • The they is the media and those around him robbing him of his life, amd making him into something he didn't want to be.

the sun is the actual sun, though it his a figurative line lol

as the sunlight hits him he cast no shadow, and the reason he does is because he's non existant/invisible, which explains the lack of the a shadow, so does literally mean " the sun ", but in a different sense. Noel explains it better in the interview. I'll see if i can find it on here somewhee for you.

  • That would be great! Hope you can come across it.

  • great description

i think you've got it bang on

  • Thanks bro.

  • richard ashcroft of the verve

  • stop fucking analysin the shit out of this song and just enjoy it like everyone else. no one cares what its about, people care if it is good or not. jesus

  • Nobody cares what it's about yet people have asked? I make one comment and someone asks a question to me and i respond to them. That's analyzing (notice analysin is not a word) the shit out of a song? Fuck off I'm going to answer a question if asked. If you don't like it don't take the time to reply to me.

    Simple? I think so, cheers.

  • you sir are a faggot, tell you what else no one cares about, is spelling errors on fucking youtube.

  • Takes one to know buddy, stop wasting both our time and shut up.

  • no u! tbh this is fun we should do this more often :D

  • I'll argue with you all day my friend so long as it's in good fun :P

  • excellentaiii

  • Mr ashcroft of the verve

  • I wonder what he mean's by " And as they took his soul they stole his pride". It seems key to understanding the whole song. This song is wonderful.

  • Well according to Noel this song is dedicated towards Richard ashcroft when his dad died and the verve split and so forth. So it will be something to do with that.

  • Thanks for that Nile101. That would be in keeping with Noel's character. He's such a sweetie and charming as well when he speaks in his Irish brogue. '95 Morning Glory right?

  • Noel. Beautiful.

  • noal is without the best song writer of the 21st century. anyone who knows one better????

  • god! theres no other word for this guy

been on the dole in manchester what a waste tht woulda been! this song is one of the most underrated ever! but im sure every oasis fan loves it,iv'e seen em 9 times and love it when they play this

  • Oasis r the best best fuckin band in the world

  • This is why I love technology and sites like this. I've never seen Noel so quite stripped down w/ the band. Un-fuckin-believable performance. Sometimes you appreciate a great artist even more when they do gigs like these. Topshelf!

  • a wiked voice and a nice guitar

  • if it wasnt for noel gallagher......liam wouldnt be who he is today....definetely maybe would slide away...live forevers gotta stay but cast no shadows my favourite today

  • a rhyming comment, i like that.

  • cheers i like to get my point across as best as i can and i think ive put it well wouldnt you agree
