@JUSTICEisWithISRAEL I don't think that with the word "child" he means literally a little child but more the feeling that parents have towards their children: They care for them, their children are a part of them and this connection will never be lost.
Just in the same way, Gilad might (and I am careful not to use the word "is") be seen as just being an not disconnectable part of the whole of Israel and just as a parent cares about his child, Israel cares about Gilad.
Just an interpretation.

And about singing for Gilad etc.: It appears to be a nice gesture but paractically causing a lot of damage for Gilad release, because the more we show we care and not strong enough it makes the price of his release higher, and actually even priceless. Holding Gilad at prison becomes kind of victory itself. I hope Aviv Gefen understands it.

Also the wall erected in between Israel and some territories is a bad solution , but at least people in Israel , children and women can feel safe and are as a fact safer . No more bombs at every corner . Quiet has a cost . When peace will be in the Hamas and others brain , then no wall will be necessary.

In Israel , politic and religion get along well , but yet , the religious part of the society is not ruling the country... The majority in Israel is secular , right or wrong. The vision of the State of Israel is yes a jewish country for the jewish people but is welcoming everyone else. Again , i don't believe the israeli side is the one to blame , arabs of palestine are maybe not united and ready to build their own tiny country as tiny as Israel is.
