I mean, the floor, walls and ceiling are all iron. Iron floor? That's not very safe. For those reasons, it was therefore not intelligently creative. You say he "wasn't prepared to spend a lot". If you mean time, then that's lazy. If you mean materials, well it's quite obvious he didn't mine all that iron.
