She is perfect for this role. I even like her hyperventilating and stammering all fearfully when the music behind her goes atonal and nuts at around 2:01. She also sounds like she could play the girl (Luisa) from THE FANTASTICKS.

I love this particular scene,

although (and I know people are going to throw bricks through my bedroom window for this) I don't think she was panicking enough when she was saying, "Clara Johnson 142 E. Lake Street."

Kelli O'Hara was literally screaming when she did it, but I still think that Katie Clarke is a great singer, just needed to freak out a little bit more...

I know, I completely agree. It really is heartbreaking, and Katie's acting is so well-delivered. People say she's too childish but I love her take on the character, perhaps even moreso over Kelli.

Katie Clarke is so adorable and a terrific broadway actress. I admit that I wasn't wild about her voice at first, but it's really grown on me. It's child-like and sweet, just like Clara herself.

hplunaluvgd - you could not be more right!!!! I was over the moon to see someone else feels that way! My friend and i always always refer to Katie's hands and in particular her beloved 'hand clappy' (runs on spot, claps hands, then puts them on hips) on that she does whenever she's specially happy. It's adorable and so very precise to her portrayal of Clara. BRILLIANT!

i saw this show last may in tour and she was in it and she was AMAZING!!!! my mom and i met her at the stage door and she was really nice. i love this show, the orchestrations are BEAUTIFUL and i seriously want all of the dresses clara wears...they are all so pretty
