Wow, nice job. It's almost hypnotic watching hands dart out sometimes one at a time in sequence, sometimes several in synchrony. Interesting camera angle for this video!
Cool! Please, if there are any American out there seeing this, can you please explain this thing with bell choirs? I have never seen one before, but I googled it and it seems to be very popular in the States, esp. in churches.
What is this tradition? What does it come from? It's quite a peculiarity for a European guy like me... :)
Handbells are actually one of the oldest instruments. They originated in England in the mid 1600's as more of a convenience factor for extremely loud ringing bells.
Bascially if you take a piano and take key by key and turn it into a bell, you have a bell choir.
Handbells are single-handedly the most expensive instrument.
I played for 7 years in school. I'd give anything to play again.
Saw your question and figured it to be sincere...I guess the best answer I can come up with is what is written on a German Opera House.."Bach Gave Us God's Word, Mozart Gave Us God's Laughter, Beethoven Gave Us God's Fire...GOD Gave Us Music So That We May Pray Without Words"...We in America are taken so much by European Traditions and Churches in particular the Carillon Bells...It is our way to show our "Giving Praise" to HIM,.God Bless You and check out Glendale Methodist Bells.
@meanmon Thank you for those beautiful words. Although I have to admit I am not a believer, but I still found that answer a beautiful one. Have a nice day :-)
haha that's so cool! it sounds nice on the handbells. would help, though, if the camera was positioned more to the center or trebles rather than at the bass.

@tattooedpunkbbw
You not kidding about that price thing. When you get into the really low bells
you are talking about 4,000 to 5,000 a bell.
