Barry Lyndon. Why don't they make films like that anymore? The seventeenth and eighteent century must surely be the most facinating epoc of western history, but I hardly see a book or a film about this fantastic epoc. Why?
Nobody sophisticated enough to do the necessary research, nobody perceptive enough to appreciate the scale of absolute war and nobody with Kubrick's talent for bringing it all to life.
