What happened to the Artctic Monkeys?

The first album was amazing and I listened to it all the time

The second had 2 or 3 good songs

Then after that I completely gave up hope on them releasing another good song

@zomedude You must be the most deaf or most musically retarded on the planet. i'll admit suck it and see was a little stale. but Humbug was a fucking masterpiece, the music was so much more artistic and mature, the lyrics were much more poetic. Their first album was crappy and immature. it was nothing more than fast-paced power chords, manic drumming and lyrics that appeal to teenagers. thank god they grew out of that.

Well obv not just you, heh. BUT, however I do think you are mistaken. Listening to this version it is hard to tell, but he does have a short stop between the G and a shortly pronounced E, atleast the first time he sings it. But while singing it live you will understand that since a G ends on an E-sound it is hard to pronounce that brief stop inbetween the G and E before the R, album version much clearer.

The Arctic Monkeys were what they were becos of their sound! their incredible, incredible sound. how the feck could they kill that? their new album is good--but mediocre. I used to think they would rise to the same level as the beatles. they ruined that chance when they tried to SOUND like the beatles. I just miss the start of their career, but I will always love them...

Yeah, actually I read an interview in the August edition of MOJO (the one with the Monkeys on the cover ;) ;) ) and yeah, Alex said that he liked the fact that a humbug is the type of sweet that you have to suck on for a while to get to the middle part, which is the best part, and so in a way it's like the album, you need to listen to it a lot to get the best out of it, and I have to agree. It's like that with all masterpieces, I think.

Thanks for summing up what I've been trying to say, love that he said that. Got the album on Friday and have heard it 5-6 times already, reaally starting to grow on me, was a bit sceptical at first. Also heard Alex say that the lyrics this time 'round were more cryptic and coded (thus enabling him to make them more personal), which also was my first reaction after reading the lyrics in the booklet that came with the album.
