This game is very underrated and was more or less ignored when it came out. It was another game trying to use Sonic's successful formula on the Sega, so was labeled as a rip/spin-off. However, this does have its own unique spin an and is very original in most repsects. Besides, the main focus was the big battle between Sega (aka Sonic) fans against Nintendo (aka Mario) fans. These all contributed to why this unique and fun game faded into obscurity.
nah man, i like the mortal kombat 3 sound on the MD. the snes is totally fuzzy! theres no treble to the snes sound chip at all, the MD can do bass and treble really good, but probably lacking in the mids. whereas the snes could do good mids and low ends, but lame high ends. (IMO)
I just recently purchase this game about a week ago from the uk. The version i got is a mega drive PAL, it works on my mega drive but not on my genesis nomad. I think this is one of the early games that feature a regional lock out chip. On the back of the case the game was release in 1993.
I've finished this game many times and when you complete it, it tells you to try and finished it again on very hard mode where one hit kills Sparkster!
Attention to all! If you want to see the ending do not play this game on Practice mode otherwise you will just receive a message saying ''Congratulations now try again on normal or hard mode''.
your right, the sound on some genesis/megadrive games really lets the console down. The snes is the all-round better console, but some of the exclusives for the genesis were awesome, like this game
SNES Sparkster and Genesis Sparkster may have the same name, but they're actually completely different games... the SNES one plays a lot like Genesis Rocket Knight Adventures, but the Genesis one is ... different. You'd have to play it to see what you think with that one. Both do have password save and unlimited continues, though, so they're not quite as massive a challenge as the first one...
RKA is an awesome, awesome game though, despite the high difficulty!
This is an amazing game... I used to play it all the time as a kid. Also, I can now beat the game pretty easily having played it a lot... It's definitely worth it because the final levels are great.
I use an ATi 650 and it works great. I used to use an Adaptec USB Gamebridge but it didn't work with Genesis (or Sega Master System) but worked with anything else with AV. I couldn't get it to work with 64-bit Windows 7 either. Make sure the one you get works with your OS as some don't work in Vista and or 64-bit drivers might not be out there. Also its true many do not like to work with the Genesis for whatever reason. This one does but there is a little jiggle in the bottom of the screen.
Good review

MK3 sucked because Williams took over the port. MK2 was AWESOME and probably the best in the series.

i think its an ATI TV tuner, he used to use a more basic one called a GameBridge which doesn't work on Windows 7 nor supports the Genesis.
