You can't literally kill an SL avatar. If you try to cancel the account it can still be recovered via Linden Labs, for about 3 months and perhaps longer. The avatar may loose some inventory items.

This could be an issue for an avatar who runs an SL online business.

Anyway it costs nothing to set up a new avatar account so perhaps this guy already had more than one avatar in SL already!

As CallaCela says it doesn't work that way, the avatar does not reside solely on your PC it is on SL servers.

You cannot 'kill' a SL avatar. Doesn't work that way. If an account was canceled, then Linden Lab could be contacted. Furthermore, all avatars are password protected, so unless the idiot used his wife's birthday, or something equally stupid or set his computer to 'remember' his password, she could not just turn on the computer and into his avvie.
