@bonemone You're not getting it for some reason. They play during a thunderstorm because they are so strong that when the bat hits the ball a huge, thunderlike sound occures. If it were a normal day, humans could hear that sound and wonder what was going on. They would follow the strange sounds so they play when it is thundering. In the book it said that if they collided, it also made that huge sound.
