well this method looks great. BUT, the only thing between you and the dry wall is a thin piece of paper. Knock it by mistake, scrape, etc, and you're in the chalk. Nothing beets a plastered dry wall. Also exterior corners stay soft and vulnerable.
this guy is going to have blisters and dont ever wet the tape. plus he must not want to be white he has gloves and a jumpsuit on. i want to see what he does when he sands
Unless you're using fiberglass tape, you're supposed to wet the tape before you install it. If you're doing this at home you should definitely wet it. And keep your knife wet at all times. It's a lot easier to work the mud.
I agree with those that use a flat pan for mudding as opposed to a trowel . It's so much easier to clean up.
Of course the pros will have different methods, but they are the masters. You and I don't have thousands of hours perfecting our techniques.
The adhesive backed paper tape needs to be wet but not the dry one. As you squeeze the mud out with the jointing knife the paper starts to get wet, once you put the mud on the outside after bedding the tape it will be wet enough but not too much so it tears.
dude your full of shit, whoever told you that lie you need to go slap his ass,,,! i have finished drywall for 30 years and i have never seen anyone wet there tape that is stupid.
You are supposed to wet it. The tape does have a small amount of adhesive on the backing.
Of course I did say that the pros do have different methods. I'm not a pro so whatever. Don't wet it then.
BTW dude, I have no idea what goes on in your industry behind closed doors, but I'm curious: Do you normally go slapping guys that you work with in the ass? lol
@wellyes well yes i do slap some of the people i work with on the ass but they are all women and please find the instructions on wetting tape before you apply it i got to see this!!
@bluetickrunner I've never seen anyone wet it either and I don't wet it. The moisture in the mud is good enough. I put mud on the wall then tape then i like to skim the tape with a bit of mud on top just to "wet" it a little so it doesn't peel up. Maybe I'm going to far but that's just my personnal preference.
oh nice... I didn't think it was that easy... well, he is making it LOOK easy... lol
Just had a couple questions.. Man, I did the crap the hard way on the last bathroom job I did.. used the mesh crap. It showed through when I sanded it.
in Sweden whe dont tape the corners we plaster them then after sanding and under coating with ordinary ceiling paint, we then fill all corners with an arcrylic gap filler from a tube.
This guy is perfectly easy to understand (And I'm from new zealand) What hes doing is pretty much the same way we do it here. although I personally use a 100mm knife and a trowel.. And I bog/cork the gaps up first...I've seen guys shoving tape into corners and joins over gaps and thats not good...I cork every gap in a house up first before i go anywhere near it with tape...tape is to reinforce a join.. unless its bedded in flat it won't have as much strength...
I think that it is his way doing his work not the right way but his way. You can have 10 different contractors and have 10 different techniques and none of them are wrong just different. I have been in business 20 years and some guy that just started might show me a technique that really improves my speed and finish. Different does not mean deficient.
He's fine, and it's not hard to understand what he is saying -and I'm not of his ethnicity and American, before you go there. Why the hell are you so hard on this guy!!! Why are you setting the bar so high for this guy when most of the videos on YouTube are neither done by professionals in the field for 30 years? Why don't you make a damn video to show us how it works. I bet you won't (excuse me, can't) do that. Show us how to do it!!!!!
I cannot help it... I have seen a few of your videos now and you should learn the advantages of a pan and put down that hawk... it is way too slow for you... Get a pan, turn on the heat in that building (joint compound should not dry in the cold-- cracks) and go work for another company as a laborer and watch how real finishers perform and learn from them! You will become more efficient and remove these videos and repost with your new found skill! Kai 302-588-7890
All you can do for me Canada is give me your health insurance... But, if you think the pan is for dorks... you are not very intelligent--- and if you are calling me a dork...
has anyone thought that he might be going a bit slow because he is trying to teach others something as for the pan I'm not sure about residential but i know all commercial tapers use the hawk and tape reels. along with other things like a machine maybe.
Look Mr. 19 year old... I know you have a lot of commercial experience in your long life time... So I believe whatever you have to say... except when it comes down to building construction-- I will discount your thoughts and what you know as limited... The hawk is used for plastering not taping... and of course a boozka machine is a different story all together but we are not talking about machines in this video! Pay attention!
The following site: [lsminsurance(dot)ca/calculato rs/canada/income-tax] should aim to answer your question.
Overall, a person who has $100,000 of taxable income without any from dividends or capital gains would, at most, be taxed at 33.31% of their gains for the 2009 calendar.
Sure income tax is that low. You have to take into account that our sales tax is obscene. Here in Ontario, it is 13% pst and 5% gst. That is addition to the damn near 40% markup in prices over what the States pay for services and goods.
thanks for posting...dont mind the haters you do what they cant

This is the biggest mistake Europeans do. All inside corners have to be taped, otherwise they will later crack.
