Stage shows of the early & mid 19th Century most pleasing to whites were Minstrel Shows which featured blacks degrading themselves by reinforcing stereotypes (blacks love to dance and sing,can't speak properly, are savage,athletic, sexual beasts,etc.) It is now 2011. A student can get an associates and become a Radiation Therapist and make 77K a year. Thus, if you have county A that has a larger tax base than county B, than county A will have more money to spend educating students than county B. Here in France, it's very difficult to have a high qualified job if you wear dread locks, if you are " fat", if you are not a citizen of the country, if you din't complete your degrees ( master degree at least), if you dont have the good network and connections, if you show too much your religion and so on

The past needs to be taken into account but aside from that my top 5 would be:
1. The youth glorification of thug life culture and mockery of the educated.
2. The breakdown of family values and family culture.
3. Blaming society or other people for personal failures.
4. Becoming dependent on Welfare.
5. Failure to shape our children towards a life of good and away from 1,2,3,4 which just keeps the cycle going and steers kids in the direction of the prison system and away from a better life.

Im black. I grew up in the ghetto. I grew up in a single parent home. My mom did the best she could. Being young, black and growing up in a poverished community, you must have mentality and a work ethic to want to get out of there. Instead of buying rims with 4500$. Save it and add to it. We need to stop blaming these white people for everything. They talk about the way we talk, walk, dress and that just wont ever end. I think the culture is a big one too, I turned on BET the other day, I normally don't allow that shit in my house but I decided to just watch it and see how long it took to see nigger culture (not black culture, MLK didn't live that shit, it was force fed to us). It didn't take 5 minutes.
Another big one I think, we're still pretty segregated, and a lot of black communities are around toxic things like copper smelters (which produce lead)... More.

Also like you said Welfare often holds us back. I've seen men afraid to get Jobs not because they don't want to work because they're afraid of losing what they've got and they know if they lose the job they'll be left with nothing. That whole system seems set up to make us fail.
A lot of people in the black community don't start out with very much either, and not everyone has parents like mine.

I have come to a startling realization. Blacks are genetically better than us. They are naturally more explosively aggressive, are highly creative which is the highest form of intelligence, their phenotypes are dominant and I propose a theory that Blacks have superior pheromones. Hence explaining why so many females mate with them, regardless of economic status. It's shocking to me how Whites were able to turn reality upside down. If only Blacks knew their real worth.

I agree with you all but I did not see low self esteem as a major setback. Also, immaturity plays a huge part in our vacillation. Many of us are too immature to walk the streets as free man and women or to be a apart of an academic setting. if, I had to add a sixth man to the list, I would add Interracial relationships....Many will give me strife about it but with majority of our men in prison and the black community in the "shit hole" it leaves many of our women a choice of either being single or dating outside the race. If we remain down this road Over time this will lead to the extinction of the AA man and woman.
