Give me a break people, it is clear that the writers of Lost had intended the show to end having had the Island be some kind of purgatory. When the clues became a bit too obvious and the general audience figured it out too early, the writers had little choice but to attempt to change the show into something it wasn't. This led to an unreal amount of unanswered questions at the end of the show. The ending wasn't difficult to understand, it was just disappointing and left unanswered questions.
@Fallibilism Oh, I understand the ending alright. I understand that the writers had their little shallow, pseudo-religious ending that they planned all along and stuck to it, despite the fact that in comparison to the rest of the show it sucked.
That's just like a child deciding they want to be a hamster-rodeo clown when they grow up and sticking to that despite becoming an adult with actual skills.
this is amazing. before that he gave speech about Jack's being a leader, then about making the choices instead of bound by it. wise man that want to date a sex call operator, love this guy!
@LostMomentsandClues You haven't struggled enough in your own life to appreciate the beauty of the ending. I agree that some of the best moments in the show were in the first 3 seasons and the last 3 were definitely lacking across the board as it started to focus more on the mythology instead of the characters. But the finale brought the show back to it's focal point which was the characters. I do believe that the end was put together pretty lazily but there is a metaphor in it.
@Gdanohrukrodmmtefce You're entitled to your opinion but personally I think 5 and 6 were great. I would agree that the plots became too confusing, especially when told in the "flash forward" style, but at the same time it made it interesting. Plus, without spoiling it for the newbies, season 6 explained a hell of a lot about the island itself
@Gdanohrukrodmmtefce It think it was because of ABC wanting to milk as many episodes as they could out of it. The earlier seasons had things happening in every episode, but season 5 and early season 6 had a lot of 'filler episodes'. They made quantity over quality I think. Still very interesting to watch with the flash-sideways things that set up the finale. And I still think it was the best show made in a while. :)
@crazypianolady Filler episodes? Are you talking about bits of season 3 (Nikki/Paulo, for example)? Because most of the rest of the series was intensely focused on the character arcs/plot/mythology.
@Gdanohrukrodmmtefce Seems like someone just couldn't keep up. I'm constantly bemused by how many people struggle to keep up with what is a pretty simple story. :/

Those that don't understand the ending of Lost lack the sufficient intelligence required to successfully say "have a cluckity-cluck-cluck day, Sir".

this show used to be so good....about specific, focused plots...season 5 and 6 and the finale especially ruined the fuck out of this show.

@LostMomentsandClues I consider the ending of LOST a work of brilliance. That final scene deserves hundreds upon hundreds of hours of our time.

@LostMomentsandClues I don't really understand why some people find it bad. :/
