It's going up, 'cuz the world's fuel supply is going down. It's already mind-blowing where it ALL comes from! It will run out...give it time. You don't have to worry about any of this if you just use alternative fuels like natural gas(CNG) and electric. I adapted my car to run on CNG for only $1500. CNG is only $1.50 per gallon where I live and stations are all over the place. In addition, I bought an electric car. The electric car only costs 3 cents per mile. You can phase gasoline out of your daily life if you just try.

I've seen LNG trucks with 2 trailers fueling up in Salt Lake at $2 per gallon. LNG trucks are all over the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach pulling very heavy loads. Gasoline and diesel aren't the only fuels available anymore.
Gasoline as of 2/14/2012 is $3.85 where I live (Great lakes region), so it will be way HIGHER than $4.00 a gallon by Spring/Summer. It has been climbing daily here at a rate like I haven't seen. This is going to screw our econmomy even worse than it alreadfy is......were screwed!
@townkevin59 You aren't stuck with gasoline. Nissan and Mitsubishi dealers are selling electric cars now. Any Honda dealer will sell you a natural gas Civic GX. These cars are a bit pricey, but they help you migrate off gasoline.

@townkevin59 I got criticized plenty for shelling out $22K on an electric car. However my critics spent just as much on their boats, snowmobiles, campers, jet skis, ATVs, and mid-life crisis Harleys. Lots of CNG adapted trucks are used for towing and can switch back to gasoline when CNG isn't available. I'll be in much better shape having these alternative fuel vehicles the next time I find myself out of work like you.
