  • If the planet hasn't been dismantled within the next, say 100,000 years to build a billion space stations out of it with a combined real estate of millions of Earths then that means we've died out anyway. I mean, for every square meter of surface area the planet contains -- what -- two million cubic meters of dead matter. For every ray of sunlight falling on the surface of Earth two billion are wasted into space. If we were still surface dwellers in a billion years that would be an epic fail!

  • Once it gets to brown dwarf, it lasts for a length of time so long that is truely incomprehensible.

  • why a adult?I want a better guy then you

  • red giant sun will eat mercury venus and eaarth with moon we will burn thres no more atmoshpere on mars

  • Well...let's look at it this way. Theoretically speaking, within 100 000 years there's a possibility that all of our sci-fi shows like Star Trek, Stargate, and other shows alike, we will more than likely invent spaceships, or virtual teleportation devices which will allow us to travel to different places in the universe. Within the next 5 billion years, we will personally be watching (live) our planet dying. I have high doubts we'll hang around on this rock for that long.

  • You said that life will be unsustainable on earth after 1 billion years but I heard that will be true after only half a billion years. Who's right?

  • @LolaCrazy222 Your wrong, Due to advanced technology the sun can change its size like today.

  • Earth's sun is an evolving planet's core that consists of gigantic spherical magnets which are submerged under a sea of ions. Atop of the ions, eventually will develop a skin that as it ruptures due to internal increase pressure, it spews some of the soupy material and develop into feeder pillars. Feeder pillars take the form of mushrooms forming the substraum that serves as a foundation for the eventual archicture of a living world. All suns are reminescent of devolopping wolds.

    "SUNOTICS"

  • What that means is that eventually, it will be warm enough on Mars and Ceres for life to exist. The hottest temperature is -5 celcius on Mars in the summertime and coldest is -87 C in the wintertime; however, those seasonal temperatures will become warm enough for life due to the sun burning out.

  • Oh my god! I'm going to make videos about the future in billions of years, because I care and I bet I'll live that long!

  • most people think the sun is a non intelligent ball of fire that just burns. Its funny because without the sun, intelligent earth beings would not exist. The sun was alive before you were born, and will still be alive when we are dead. How in the world can a fire burn for billions of years, this defies any logic based on anything earthly. This body of fire is indeed intelligent beyond what we can imagine, we are like dogs compared to the sun. The sun is an angel of light compared to humans.

  • @HealingVibrations The sun is a coalesced ball of hydrogen undergoing nuclear fusion. It can "burn" for billions of years because that it simply the amount of time it will take to convert all of its hydrogen to helium and helium to carbon.

  • @jedithebomber "The sun is a coalesced ball of hydrogen" So you have been told by the "scientific community". There is more than meets the eye. Little kids are told that santa claus is real. "Look a note from santa, and he ate the cookies too". The sun is more than you have been led to believe. There is a reality that the ruling elites have given the masses (slaves) to keep people manipulated. The sun is "The lightbringer", prince of the air, the morning star, hidden in plain sight.

  • @HealingVibrations Paranoid much?

  • @HealingVibrations

That's beautiful. I've always felt in my heart that the planets and the stars have an intelligence that's incomprehensible to our earthly un-evolved little brains. Luckily our spirits aren't controlled by our brains and we can feel differently than how we think. We're looking for intelligent life in space, but really we're looking for intelligence like ours, which personally I think is inferior to what's out there.

    Right on!

  • is that a bong

  • God and Science can be hand and hand. deal with it.

  • I'm always curious about how simple astronomy videos become raging debates over theological existence...

  • @jetphlyersteve The theological stance is so weak that anyone in love with it immediately has to defend it. That's why the smallest dogs always bark the most. :-)

  • @AeroCFlameX92 okay first why do you chek scientis video if you believe in a suposed god? Ho and i think you are more stupid the i believe you believe that we become a spirit or a stupid things like that!? Do you ave a proof of spirit existense do you ave a proof of the god existens? NO you dont ave proof! So when you dont ave proof you are supose to dont believe in that .But when we are stupid or brain washed like you you start to believe in stupid things

  • @mastrtimtom

Some people believe that if you can't spell, you're stupid, but I don't believe that.

I don't believe that people who believe in God or a spirit are stupid either.

    My humble opinion, rock on!

  • @qAyyUm so you say that you need to die to see him. So you are a livingdead , a zombie or a thing like that? Stop saying shit and stfu.

  • @mastrtimtom when u die ur just a spirit dude! u wont be a zombie.

  • @stefsbiotch so you ave the proof that the god exist! So you see them you ear them? I think no you just reed a stupid book and in that book you can read that a invisible man whit strange power created the earth end the human heum okay i think we are in a magic world whit dragon and fee ?!? That dosen't work

  • @fatty4500

Hey man do you ave proof of the god existence i tink no but we ave proof of the human evolution the creation of the earth and thing like that so if you dont belive in that dont post plz.

Srry for my english french speaker.

    Ty for the explanation:)

  • @mastrtimtom

Hey dude i have proof!.......Keep doing what your doing

and your gonna keep getting what your getting.

  • @mastrtimtom umm i think if u wants a proof on is there any god exist, wait till u die. u will know.

  • Depends on the Type of Star Like a Red Giant Can last like sometimes a few 100k Years

And then smaller stars last longer Depends on how much Fuel they use

  • people like this gu piss me the fuck off

theres a god u fuckin dipshit beliveing in this evolution bullshit is gonna fuck u over

    im tellin u

    ur fuckin dumb as shit

  • What does the mass of a brown dwarf star consist of?

  • damn.i wonder what life will be in year 300 or so.flying cars and umm.umm.

holograms?well.holograms exist in very low quality.

  • oh plz shut up

  • By then we can move to Mars. :D

  • can i ask how he knows how old the son is? what kinda equipment is used to determine that? fuckin bullshit,

  • they use the solar glare and the waves to determine how old it is but i am no smarthead

  • im sorry but that just doesnt make any sense to me. its like im a whole different kind of human than who ever invented these methods.

  • @KingOfKool182 Cut it open and count the rings, DUH!

  • Hahah

  • I'm not the best person to explain it, but here's the gist (these numbers will be approximate):

Geologists determined that the earth is at least 4 billion years old based on the half-life of potassium 40, which decays every 1.3 Billion years by 50%, to be replaced by Argon. They've discovered rocks that have a ratio of approximately 12.5% K40 to 87.5% Argon, indicating that it had gone through it's half-life cycle about three times in that particular sample.

  • Here's how it goes. Well, I think what this guy is saying is that Sol is 13 bilion years old. Actually, Sol is about 5 billion years old, and will live to be about 10 billion. It's actually the universe that is 13 billion years old. However, scientists have found stars that are about 18 billion years old.

  • no they havent ......

  • i really stop this fucking talkative vedio at 2:30... -_-' lame

  • you just made my favorite subject fucking depressing. good job

  • i wonder if there is a single girl or women who did put this video and watched it to the end.

  • If this guy would shut the fuck up and actually show the video, I would watch it. I stopped watching at 2:01 and a refuse to go further.

  • Why didn't you just skip to the star part? Are you to lazy to hit the timer? Also you where only like 30 seconds behind where it started. You can't wait 30 more seconds? Wait to give up when your already so far in. So some commitment man!

  • Well figure the Sun burns about a Billion Tons of Hydrogen a second! and it's really not all that big (in star terms) Im sure it will burn up it's Hydrogen before too long and then it will pretty much be a Big Balloon filled with Helium...It's been good to us

  • How the hell can anyone tell that the earth is 13 billion years old, whats the method ?

  • checking the year, of birth the star, sun

  • its not 13 billion,,,its about 4 bill,,and u can fig it out by carbon dating and uraniun decay,,,certain elements release atoms in decay at a perfect fixed rate that cant be wavered,,u jus measure rocks which decay and fig how much they have and how much is left and just do the math...

  • Cheers !

  • i thought they measured the sun''s age through the frequency of its vibrations ? ( which is decreasing with time )

  • yes but the frequecy of his radio signal increase in time :)

  • bah everyone knows the sun will never be big enough to go supernova lol since it dosent have enough mass nore enough energy to start the next stage of fusion after the carbon/oxygen cycle.

  • shut the fuck up.

  • he just jinxed us with the apocalypts

  • damn! the sun its old! lol but scary tho...nice vid ..good job..hello ppl! from los angeles,ca 323!..bye =)

  • ok thats scary if u think about it cuz if the sun does explod well then we all die (but we will be long gone) but its still scary and then no more plantes (im 12 so im not that smart like you people)

  • you're a lot smarter than most people twice your age kid.

  • @kemo30

    Amen!

  • u gay

  • 2:31

  • 1 billion years left for life on earth, hmm?

Well humanity at the current rate will be hard pressed enough to survive the next few centuries, considering how they are depleting the planet to near breaking point as it is. And will be long gone then.

But I guess multicellular life still has a decent amount of time left. (Multicellularlife has been around for about 600-570 million years.)

  • Read the title next time he is covering the cycle of the sun from birth to death not saying it is 13 billon years old.

  • The sun was born around the same time earth was born. And i thought brown dwarves were from protostars but they didnt have enough heat to become a star. White dwarves turn into black dwarves after a long time.

  • Technically, a protostar is only called a protostar when it begins fusion. Therefore, a brown dwarf never was a protostar for the reasons you stated.

  • Sun wasent born 13 billon yearas i think it was the universe

  • Hey, isn't jupiter like a brown dwarf?

  • Nope, it's a gas giant.

Brown Dwarfs have at least 15 and up to 80 times the mass of Jupiter.

  • Well... I said LIKE. Means similar. :S

    Sorry.

  • I was sort of referring to 2010, XD

  • Naw, I think the sun is neither a common or rare type of star.

  • no, its main sequence star, a pretty common type of star

  • How can something be neither commmon or rare? What's left?

  • There can be an object that is simply 'normal'.

  • @freetoys

    My thoughts exactly!

  • Respond to this video... Medium rare, well-done, lol lol I couldn't resist.

  • lol,in the middle of winter,"omfg its too cold!"then 4 billion years happened in 10 secs, you say "omfg niw its to hot!!!"

  • We will probably have evolved to a level of gods long long before this happens. Our god like descendents will probably witness the death of our sun and Earth.

  • I bet u have to pay tax for whats going to happen in a bilion years.I new al gore and the rest of them monney grabing twats was full of shit.

  • dont worry guy always be positive . one day there will another big bang we will all be there once to enjoy life

  • and if not???, are u talking about rencarnation???, its ovbius a new big bang will happend, since in all space there are lot of black hole that has a lot of density will explode and make paralel galaxys and stuff...

  • Well, with dark matter the 'big bang to big crunch to big bang' is not a so hot theory anymore. It's now that everything will just fall apart into particles into nothingness.

Even then though... who knows what exists outside of our "infinite" universe and how it could impact what happens after.

  • according to hindu cosmology, there are infinite universe bubble floating in space. see the youtube videos of "hindu cosmology- mysteries of sacred universe" - part 1,2,3,4.

    its quit interesting.

  • i think this is a little disturbing

to bad we wont get to see what happens in 1billion years

  • that will be weird the world will be pitch black

  • the world would probably be a cinder by then.

and they say we have global warming issues? HAH! add 4 billion years to the solar system age and watch the thermometer climb....... and climb.......... and climb

  • ugh this guy is a Doctor?i dnt think so.accordin2this the time from first hydrogen shell burn to helium shell burn takes a billion years then another billion then another billion2fade n2 a white dwarf?no main-sequence to white dwarf takes less than 200millions years

  • So in 1,000,000,000 years would it be to hot to live on mars?

  • probly not but then after bout another 1000 (roughly) years or so mars would then begin to get too hot.

  • really interesting at least ill be dead by the time its gone in less for some wierd reason i live for another 9billion years >.>

  • or imploding into a black hole or into....er....a nutron star or somit ?

  • Really nice. Danke ^^

  • saturn is the best

  • Thank you.

  • actually, the sun is larger than 80% of the stars in the milky way....which is dominated by dwarfish stars since they live so much longer than large ones. so monster stars are the exception rather than the rule.

  • no the sun is actually smaller then 80% of the stars in the milky way....the sun is a very small star

  • No,sun is a middle sized star.

If it would be very small, it would never turn to a red giant.

  • eh I meant small compared to most stars it's not small but it's small compared to most stars:/

  • all wrong you guys dont know every single star out there becuase you jsut cant and you can compare sun to everythign and the sun is an average sized star

  • the sun is SMALLER than 80% of stars in the milky way...

  • Given that 80% of all stars in the milky way are red dwarfs, that's absolutely not the case.

The Sun IS a dwarf star, and thus quite puny in comparison to big stars, but it's larger then those red dwarfs.

  • Oh so you jumped from a red giant to a nebula... er no m8 most facts were correct though. Impressive.

  • Aweee .. this is interesting .. yhuu guys are so mean . literally i kinda watched it 2 times LOL

  • boooooooring

  • hahaha.... just because you have a doctorate degree.... doesnt mean you have to wear scrubs......

  • cool well i knew that eny way!

  • Many people know it... I hope...

  • ...first of all...use your damn brain. we're far away from the sun...far enough to where it takes light from the sun, which goes really fast, about eight minutes to arrive to Earth.

and during winter, since Earth is at a tilt, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun [or something of that matter], and even the smallest change in direction or distance from the sun can create great climate change.

plus, your air conditioner might be on.

  • god i hate when people post retarded comments which they probably know.... lol

  • 13 billion years in 2 minutes indeed. Very good video. I watched it whilst having breakfast as an excuse to procrastinate my coursework (I'm a Introduction to Astronomy student, by distance learning, in the UK).

    Thank you.

  • to tell the truth i would think it would bequite cool to see... but we will probally all be dead by the time that happens of old age or WW3 XD

  • Extinction of human race is a matter of tens or hundreds years, comrade. In evolutionism sight its matter of milion years. It's impossible for humanity to see this process. And whatsmore... The process would take thousands of years and all the life would extinct in the first years of this event.

    Greets.

  • impossible? we see evolution directly every day. every single day. how do virus' alter, how we have dairy cows? wat about domesticated dogs an cats. this is evolution buddy n it can also happen very fast not always taking 1million years

  • Not to mention infertility, (if that happens) asteroids, comets, um... aliens..

  • LOL

  • :) :)

  • for other creatures yes

  • I figured that as our star became larger that eventually liquid water would no longer be possible and Earth would be permanently lifeless. And I believe that Mars will become inhabited by martians with antennae.

  • in 1mill years easy EASILY we will be living on diffrent planets

  • not 1 million years... but much much sooner. Read about Terence Mckenna and his thoughts on Time wave Zero. basically the time graph goes linear at 2012 and he believes that is when time travel will occur and we'll be able to move to different constellations.. Just a thought, not my own.

  • do you really belieive that??????? nekulturny...

  • Man-kind is much smarted then we give ourselves credit for. We have been protected for thousands of years by technology's that we can't explain. I don't think that everyone will go, but a select few. A select few have already gone.

  • XD omg base51 ^^ yeaah, you know,I am writing from pluto, and my real name is Einstein. they've brought me back to life...

  • How stupid are you Kron??? You take pride in the fact you're close minded and can't imagine such possibilities? What a fantastic way to live....in a protected little bubble, forever escaping a free thought.

  • Also it does not really matter when teh sun dies out. The better question is when the earth will die out. Note that the Earth did not always have continental plates. Its plate cycle will cool down and stop after about 2 billion years, 3 billion years before the sun dies out. Of course this means as well that life will be very unstable on earth after about .7 billion years because there will be a rise in internal volcanic activities.

  • Good points.... lots of bads things will happen to Earth before the Sun enters the Red Giant Phase..you bring up one that I have not considered..very interesting.

..I have a few questions...If the Earth is hot enough to have volcanic activity, why will the plates stop moving? Is the volcanic activity going up then because energy needs to be released that is now released by Earth Quakes? Why won't there still be Earth Quakes? Thanks

  • So, it's one billion years until the ultimate genocide. Let's hope that the age of technology continues. People are going to have to find another planet to live on. I don't want my descendants to simply sit around and fry on the Earth!

  • Roughly that timeframe, if man kind makes it out that far... still a long time from now considering civilization has been around for only 10,000 years. The solar brightening by that time will make the Earth a much much hotter place than today.... however life including humans adapt.. so no one really knows for sure..but it will happen before the red giant phase really sets in.

  • How hot do scientists predict the US might get from the solar brightening 1 billion years from now? Let's hope mankind survives that far out, such as surviving a collision from a huge asteroid.

  • so the sun cant turn into a black hole?

  • That is correct.. it cannot. For a star to become a black hole it needs to be about 8 solar masses, some calculation hav it as low as 5 solar masses. The Sun is destined to be a white dwarf... with a radius of about the diameter of the Earth.

  • no its is not massive enough. it will have to be 3 times the mass

  • The Big Bang created all the stars, why is there such a broad range of ages in stars?

  • Great question. First is there are more than 1 generation of stars out there. The Sun /Solar system is at least a second generation star/System, Second the life time of star varies with its mass.. massive stars live on tens of millions of years compared to 10 of billions for mediocre stars like the Sun

  • differant ages of stars then would basically depend on luck of the draw sorta, if they were exposed to more gases etc

  • stars are still being created(in theory) we will never be able to tell this though

  • Excellent, thanks for the video. Few stages of the transition I wasn't aware of, and didn't know that our clock was only 1 billion years. Hopefully inter dimensional transport, or faster than light travel is founded long before then haha.

  • We'll probably be gone long before then!! ;-)
