The twin headlights were featured first on the E-class in the 90s...they become squarish because that's the new MB design theme, which is intended to make them look soprtier and remind us a-bit of the older models, which had excellent quality...I think designers were hoping that the new design is a connection to show these new MB's are being well-built again. As for the rear, it's a mixture of CLC, C and CL...plus, this was designed about 7 yrs ago, much before either IS, GS or LS were launched

The Back looks like a Merc CLC, the Front looks like a Merc C-Class (Apart from the headlights that are evidently stolen from Lexus) and it's just not a good looking car tbh... Shame really :(

Split headlights = no. The GS couldn't pull them off, and neither can this car. There probably won't ever be a car that can. They just don't look good. Rear lights now mimic the LS430/ES350. This car is starting to look more like a Lexus than a MB. It's not bad looking, but not great, and not very MB looking either.
