  • Due MOSTRI SACRI del violino, MERAVIGLIOSI !!!

  • If I was to paint a portrait of those two giants playing the violin, I'd sketch two folk elders, with David and Igor each reciting their experiences of days gone by .. each telling each other tales of wisdom and David proud that he has found a friend, a match and a soul mate in Igor.

  • Bravo. I first heard them live at the RAH London so many years ago ...

  • this is amazing!

  • ya no eliminen videos pinches envidiosos

  • clavaos!!!!!, siempre brutales! BRAVO!!!!!

  • That was so freaking amazing.

  • Father and son. How inspiring!

  • I first heard this concerto in a record I had of the 2 Oistrakhs, and I still think they are the best! I almost cried listening to this.

  • sublime! best performance I've heard of this piece!!

  • A fine violinist. I have not had an opportunity to see as much of him as I have others...thank you so much for posting!

  • I know David and Igor in this Bach concerto since I am a boy, I am 53 now and still loves what they recorded the same way. Wonderfull!

  • THIS IS SO GOOD I CAN'T HANDLE IT. Oistrakh is a God

  • I must confess I had never heard of David Oistrakh before a search for Bach's violin concertos brought up this video. Is his name pronounced OY-strock?

  • yes

  • I love oistrach...The best in my hurt

  • Great

  • This performance sounds fine to me. Just that the acoustic of the recording venue is a bit dry. Funny how one man's shit is another man's treasure.

  • Love Oistrakh. Just love the excellence of performance.

  • You should hear the second movement of this concerto which is on the same video-it is SO beautiful!!

  • does this version exist on DVD?????

  • it's on the "Great violinists of the bell telephone hour" dvd

  • Very well played. Oistrakh is such a genius. I must say, though, I prefer the Oistrakh-Menuhin version.

  • Have you tried Oistrakh/Stern? Its my favorite.

  • I'll have to look into it. I have Oistrakh/Stern's Vivaldi, and it's just beautiful.

  • you dont know what youur talking about. cant you hear the harsh playing?? everything is divided into bars, rather than phrases. you are obviously screwed up if you think this is great playing

  • under no circumstances would this performance be considered "shit" if you hate Oistrakh so much, why keep looking up his videos? A sincere critic provides logic and reasoning, not mindless insult. You are not a critic, you are a musical redneck, predisposed to music based on names. If you cannot provide any logic or good justifications to back up your one line insults, then stop posting.

  • Oistrakh is by far my favourite violinist. I think he's got incredible musical intuition and an unmatched refined tone. But I agree with drtranunity to an extent. This particular performance is harsh and choppy.

  • Who are you to criticize you asshole bitch!

  • lol... anyone who says Oistrakh isn't an artist obviously is insecure with their own playing (Drtranunity... I like his videos of his virtuosic violin playing... oh wait, he doesn't have any, therefore he is now officially stfued)

  • That's overly harsh criticism, but there is a video clip of Oistrakh playing this with Menuhin and the playing is much better. (no, it's not the one currently on YouTube).

  • drtranuity, maybe you're better off jacking off than watching videos of great violinists?

  • what the hell... this sounds more "lyrical" and less "choppy" than the Heifetz + Friedman recording, I don't know what you're talking about.

  • You must be extremely insecure about your own playing if you keep posting these things... Either that or you actually like Oistrakh's playing

  • Odd, "Heifetzsucks" left almost that exact same comment on the video of Heifetz and Friedman but substituted "Oistrakh" with "Heifetz": "What shit! So choppy and unlyrical. I thought Jascha Heifetz was an artist, and one of the 'best of the 20th century.' Just horrible in this video. Very harsh playing, by the both of them." You two must be the same person, it all makes sense now.
