Oistrakh is by far my favourite violinist. I think he's got incredible musical intuition and an unmatched refined tone. But I agree with drtranunity to an extent. This particular performance is harsh and choppy.

That's overly harsh criticism, but there is a video clip of Oistrakh playing this with Menuhin and the playing is much better. (no, it's not the one currently on YouTube).

Odd, "Heifetzsucks" left almost that exact same comment on the video of Heifetz and Friedman but substituted "Oistrakh" with "Heifetz": "What shit! So choppy and unlyrical.
