  • harry potter!

  • McDonalds, like all religions, tastes like, smells like and is in fact shit.

  • @TheGinabombina So if I respond to this I am a religous nut. It all comes back to the resurrection of Jesus buddy.

  • @TheGinabombina And nice trolling. Come onto this site to slam U2. You da man! :-|

  • As the story goes, when the song was being written, especially when it was being written muscially, Adam had already gone home so Edge picked up the Bass guitar for the Bass only lines. But note that in the early U2 albums Edge developed his style by often playing the upper bass string(s) on the 6 string. U2 just then chose to have the two switch instruments when this song is played live.

    Happy birthday...

  • For some reason Edge is playing bass and Adam the guitar.

  • @bootymanager The Edge always plays bass on 40. Not sure why, maybe its because the bass part is the lead part in 40.

  • @tsquaredinfla it's tradition because they recorded it really quick in the War sessions after Adam had already left the studio one day. Edge came up with the catchy bass line and they went with it in a couple takes. So on statge edge plays bass because he came up with the part and it's a little tradition/fun.

  • you don't know what mean sunday bloody sunday! the best band ever @4ever

  • this is why they are the greatest band of all time. nuff said :)

  • God, I love this song!

  • U2 wrote "Miami"

  • so many people singing a psalm..

i bet most of them dont even know but its cool anyway

  • Me too! Ever seen the live concert from the Hippodrome on 4th of July, 1987. Most incredible live concert ever by u2....... One of the best I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!

  • Growing up in a strict Christian household, we were taught that U2 was bad simply because they had a song entitled "Sunday Bloody Sunday". How naive!! My parents would have been grateful to have me singing along to Psalm 40! I missed out on them during the most formative years of my life and an more than making up for it now!! The favor of the Lord is definitely upon them.

  • This was my first concert way back when! I am so excited to find this online!!!

  • Oh my goodness! That is a small concert for U2! But this is amazing!

  • Oh man, that would be incredible to hear thousands of people screaming out your songs...oh man.

  • Adam and Edge always trade instruments for this song. Even still.

  • Why is the edge playing bass?

  • I waited in vain for this one at tonight's U2 concert in Göteborg, Sweden. Great gig anyway!

  • Echo & The Bunnymen??? Besides Sugar Kisses what song did they do? Not a dig BTW. I like them I am actually wondering what I have missed.

  • are you kidding me??? oh my....look at my profile and check some vids out!

  • they usually switch up from bassist to guitarist only on this song im pretty sure

  • i thought that Edge (Dave Evans) was guitarist and Adam Clayton was bassist

  • Yes thats usually right, but for this song, Edge plays the bass and Adam on the strat guitar. Edge originally came up with the bass line for this song.

  • lol i didnt even notice

  • do they still do this?

  • Nice one. By the way, Adam was playing the guitar and Edge was on the bass!

  • U2 is a pleasure to listen indescribable. This music can listen repeatedly that it will always be a time of great reflection.

  • is that Clannad starting in at the very end of the vid?

  • you bet! a nice coincidence perhaps, but I'm not too sure that's the case because only 2 years later after this was taken, bono + clannad end up recording together. how cool's that!

  • I think they used Clannads song 'Theme from Harry's game' as intro and outro song on this tour. If you listen to the VHS/DVD of Under a Bloodred Sky you can hear they play it after the show and on the video/dvd it's the intro song.

U2 played Caislean Oir by Clannad as intro and outro song on the Joshua Tree tour 1987, by the way

  • old u2 classic songs!!

  • Fantastic!!!

  • so much love in this video <3

  • Just sing it whenever you feel down and some of the darkness will clear.

  • 0:45 HOW LONG?? HOW LONG

  • I think it's their best live show than ever!

  • is it just me or is this the version on the under a blood red sky CD? Not the movie, but the CD? Anyone know for sure?

  • You are 100% correct!

  • Also I Will Follow, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Electric Co.& New Year's Day are from this show as well!

  • Bono's voice here sounds better than ever. I love this song, but never the acoustic version, it just isn't the same without Larry.

  • I'll be short: It's awesome

  • u2 found suckers whou bought their religous crap, u2 isnt a christian band. they are a genius band

  • Brings back some of THE BEST moments of my life ... being at a U2 concert in the 80's. They would end their concert with this amazing song. Everyone in the audience holding hands & singing along as one by one, they left the stage. Withough a duobt a truly amazing experience!

  • Still their best closer. Loved how they would end the concerts with this till Rattle and Hum.

  • read the bible psalm 40

  • why?

  • If for no other reason, than for the fact that it's the top bestselling book of all times. It's worth reading at least once in a lifetime.

  • the bible? mcdonalds sells more food than anyone and its bad for you, just like the bible.

  • Well, you know what they say "One man's meat is another man's poison". Have a great day!

  • every day is a great day in southern, CA. you too.

  • It's been demonstrated numerous times that one can eat regularly at McDonald's and still be healthy. It all comes down to how smart you are about the menu choices you make. Same with the Bible. Read it with your whole mind engaged, and it's quite good for you. Read it with your mind disengaged, and all sorts of trouble ensues. Unfortunately, too many people (believers and unbelievers alike) approach most things in life with their brains in neutral.

    Great video, though. No?

  • great song and video. i am tired when people use U2 as a religous or christian band. they arent despite their own personal beleifs or lack thereof. and mcdonalds is shit food. people dont go to mcdonalds for healthy food.

  • I hate to beat a dead horse (or one trick pony, as it were), but I'm morbidly curious.

I don't put the "Christian band" label on anyone, so I don't know who you're talking about being tired of. But, are you denying there is explicitly Christian and religious content in U2's songs? And are you equally tired of people claiming U2 is a political band?

  • ronald fat fuk eat your bible ;all scripture,s are not 3 cords and the truth they are a medium of mind control only mother earth hold power our tiny minds hold on to words for secruity not grace bom shakti power

  • My goodness, what an articulate little fellow you are. That must have been one serious knock on the noggin' you suffered. Does mommy and daddy know you've climbed up to the computer keyboard again?

  • My goodness, what an articulate little fellow you are. That must have been one serious knock on the noggin' you suffered. Does mommy and daddy know you've climbed up to the computer keyboard again?

  • @Rascapalian The bible sucks. It's all a load of bullshit.

  • Psalm 40:1-2

  • Psalm 40:1-2

  • I heard this song hundred times.

But silly i got aware why 40? what does it mean? Does anybody know that's why.

  • Most of the text is from Psalm 40, from the Bible.

  • Thanx, God bless U.

  • you can find psalm 40 in the Bible

  • @YUMAKEN 40 è tratta dalla Bibbia dal versetto 40 è un inno di gioia e speranza...

  • WOW x2...fanTASTic footage!
