I don't think Tyler's voice is necessarily better, but look at how his contemporaries have aged. He still has a kick ass voice, and he still gets into the high register, and you can tell he isn't totally fried out like Jack Bruce or Robert Plant. All great musicians, but Tyler has impossible lasting power in his vocal chords. They still crank out vocals that I (A 19 year old tenor) have to pinch my balls to hit. Respect to him for that!

Yeah, I really must admit, this is waaaayyy better than the original. It was a good decision to make new recordings for the songs off of the first album, because that was Steven's "experimental" stage where he was just getting into his character as a vocalist. But I don't think redoing Mama Kin was necessary. That song is a classic.
