I live in Germany, lol, but the probs of US are the probs of the whole global village, iI regret. So it's easy, to get, what Billy does mean. Especially one of the last titles of RoD "Two Thousand Years" seems to be actuell, wherever you live... :-(
This song is such a great critique of parts of America. I wonder how much the Germans understand what this song is about. (Now that I think of it, though, that could probably be said about a large number of Billy Joel's songs.)
I am a German and I do understand what this song is about 'cause we Germans do have the image of such "No Man's Lands" Billy is singing about. To be honest, the image many Germans have of the USA (mine too^^) is influenced by the image of areas with "miles and miles of parking space", with the waste of space that is meant in "No Man's Land".
I forgot about this song..for a reason I think lol.
