  • anyone notice the wrecked f150 in the background? lol

  • @darkertree lol...500 dollar donor truck....made about 2 grand off that selling 5.4l and transmission/tcase.....rear diff is now in the black truck.... upgraded the 8.8 too 9.75 inch....

  • @oilfield666 is that k&n fliter make a major power differnece? i was thinking about buying one for my 4.6

  • you should get rid of that 150 with a town car engine and get one with the 5.4 its worth it

  • @Brendawgggggggg read the comments retard...ive got a 5.4l, just not in it yet

  • sounds mean lol

  • @hotstudd2087 it was okay....cats still muffled alot....found that out when i had deleted them. with the cats, no muffler, it was mean but not too loud so the cops give you a hard time. my current no cat with flowmaster 40 is way too loud, for where i live anyways

  • you need3'' pipe to your , long tube hraders, to no cats no muffler 1/7/8 pipe to 4'' tips then it will be loud and it contuines to pop aroud 1500 rpm

  • i have the same truck, same setup

  • check out my other exhaust videos...ive changed it twice since this one

  • Sounds good. Love those f150s. I have an 02 with the 4.6 and I just got my exhaust completely redone. Used to have flowmasters, but went with SLPs instead this time. Sounds Loud!

  • i have a different set up now, i cut everything off from the cats back (took the Y pipe out) and started from scratch with 2.5inch pipe and ended up with an exhaust style simular to what a lightning has...straight for now untill i pick up a magnaflow muffler (little bit too loud for my town)...ill try make a new video of it soon

  • lookin 4ward to hearin it

  • hay man check out my vidio 2'25 from the manafolds back into 45 with no cats

  • sounds good man...id love to put duals on my truck...im waiting till i get the 5.4l in the truck (might use a lightning setup)...as for my cats i will be deleting them as soon as i get some 02 simulators (deleted the cats on my dads 01 expedition with simulators and sounds a little meaner with better throttle responce)

  • i really like the way straight pipes sound but i have been told that if you run a straight pipe from the headers that you will lose backpressure that is needed and damage the engine, but if you add a couple bends or restrictions to the exhaust system(high performance muffler, high flow cats,x pipes, or out the side pipes)you'll be fine and not hurt anything while still giving the added horsepower......is this true?

  • as long as u still have the cats u will have backpressure...even with no cats it shouldnt be a problem...if u want to be safe have it retuned with open exhaust but i wouldnt worry about it

  • alright......thanks for the info.....i appreciate the help

  • no problem

  • another thing if your deleting the cats...u may need 02 simulators to feed the computer correct readings (prevent the check engine light from coming on)

  • does that affect the fuel milage?

  • im not sure...the day i bought the truck i had it straight piped while on the test drive...only muffler to touch my truck was a polished ss magnaflow...truck has always been good on fuel

  • its the stock 2.5inch pipe with no muffler (still got the cats)

  • hey oilfeild666 u seem to kno alot about ford trucks...whats the best performance mod for my 98 4.6

  • in your application id say p.i (performance improved) heads from a newer 4.6l.. opening up the exhast on my truck made it a lil more responsive, then adding the k&n fipk really helped the top end.

  • as long as i can whoop a real lightning im game with my engine. the heads vary in price by the stages of modifications... i think their stage I and II are very affordable (1000-2000) assembled... keep an eye out for them on ebay, proably where im going to get mine from and the prices are a lil cheaper then other places

  • nice truck, very nice

  • What is the diameter of that pipe

  • 2.5 inch pipe...i want 3 or bigger when i do actually get an exhaust

  • Hey I hope you get this soon + get back to me!! your truck is sweeeeeet! I have an 03 f150 sport-all stock -look's + run's like a brand new truck. anyways I was thinking of installing a cherry bomb exhaust(already bought) + removing the governor(sputter's + cut's out @ 105)+ installing a different(high performance?) chip... will any of these choices hurt it? what if I just install the exhaust?? I LOVE these truck's bro! I went to the dealership to buy another Explorer + fell in love w/ my f15

  • i cant see why chipping or freeing up the exhaust would hurt the truck...my truck only ran better and stronger after those mods

the only thing i recomend is installing a large transmission cooler if you plan on 100+mph

  • What you can do is get a computer programmer, which will let you add power and adjust the governor +/- 15 mph (at least thats what it does on mine) and it will free up around 15 ponies and around 25 ft. lb. of tourque (mine feels like more). I recommend Edge Products or Superchips (I have an Edge Evolution Programmer).

  • on my superchips i can raise the governor 15mph per tune... but i quit using it after installing it on my dads 01 expedition (triggers pats and i cant start it now), my next tuner will probably the one put out by SCT...i didnt so much worry about the engine tune because i didnt notice all that much (before K&N fipk never tried with it...the tranny tune is what stood out the most

  • my only complaint is not enough firmness in the tranny...i want it to chirp the tires shifting and its just not firm enough (might be my slightly slipping tourque converter that ill probly have to replae in the next few years)

  • from what i hear a person is better off going with a shift kit and forgetting the tranny tunes from the programmers... to make my truck chirp during 1-2 shift i have to let off the throttle just before it shifts then punch it again just as its shifting but i cant imagine that being good for the clutches...

  • yeah i bet your tourque converter is crying...what year is yours tho? and what size tires? but id rather get the power from a tuner so i think i kinda have to go with the tranny tune also because mines a '97 with the primitive computer where i cant tune separate things with my tuner

  • i feel a little bit of slippage in the torque converter during shifts compared to when the truck was new in 2003. the truck with stock tires (as shown in video) was 255/55/16, now im running 295/45/18 on all 4's. in the long run i think programming the tranny via valving instead of programming the computer will last longer. (tuning just pushes it to the limits with stock valving) but the other thing is im planning on 400+hp when i get the 5.4 built so i need to build a tranny that can back it

  • yeah i got 265s on mine but the 03 also had more power..plus im thinking about camming mine and i think the tuner would help with that...also i dont have any problems with mine except what i said before...all in all im happy with it, what are you having done to the engine?

  • the best mod u could do to your 97 is install a set of PI heads (same as what my truck comes with stock) or goto patriot performance and check out their complete rebuilt heads (ported!!). as for the 5.4 i got im rebuilding it from top to bottom, ive picked out the parts just need to put in more hours at work. manely bottom end, ported heads, and pro-charger providing the boost

  • wow that thing will roar...how much do those heads run? plus what else will have to be done to fit them in? p.s. your engine sounds like it will roar

  • Sweet little truck!

  • thanks man... its my work in progress

  • If that is your work in progress, then mine is a junk pile! I would LOVE to own a Flareside that year and dress it up like a Lightning. Those are Gorgeous trucks..

  • well ive got basicly everything body wise to clone a lightning (all 03 parts too from grills to bumper/skirts) minus the badges, i will always keep my f150 markers. the last thing i purchased for the truck was Ford Racing lightning rims in chrome... they look great when mounted

  • needed new rubber so i ended up buying another set of rims and tires from an 03 lightning for dirt cheap

  • I heard you lose some power cause theres no back pressure, did you notice any difference

  • there will always be backpressure as long as i retain the cats...at first it wouldnt run right :S had to reset the computer to fix that. but i did not lose any power if anything i gained in the high revs.

  • this ones way better thanks man (it would have been better if it was closer to the exhaust) :)
