we have been trying to do this move, but now you have explained it better than other instructors, particularly, the placement of the guys feet, this now makes sense, thank you, we now know what we were doing wrong.
While I appreciate U taking the time to share your experience w/us, I must be honest & say This was a Terrible upload.
There is no demo @ the beginning so no Frame of Reference, The Direction & speaking was All from the Lead as if he was dancing by himself(fine if that point of view was in the Title & a Seperate Upload to include female viewpoint).
The Captioning, literally cuts off half the picture & the camerman Cuts OFF the FEET in the Middle of the Move! This just reflects on the Instructors & Takes the Joy out of the Dance lesson.
Here's to Hoping there are Dance Instruction vids on YT that Show the Feet & Include Both Female & Male Perspective!
@LanguidGypsy Okay, so now I have looked at a number of their videos & they ALL have the same issues that I addressed above. I can only assume the "captioning" is 4 Ppl who Never Understand Accents. It's not that thick, & seriously this vid is directed to the US, a quarter of our populace speaks w/a Latino accent. He isn't speaking a different language-geesh
Regardless, Dancer does not make Teacher. He just does not explain important details & only relies on counting beats from Lead perspective.
Well, it's not like ballet or tap dancing, so I don't think shoes aren't the biggest concerns. Any shoes that's comfortable with you, but of course depending on the situation like a formal party/dance, formal shoes. If casual, tennis shoes, converse, whatever works.
great instruction
love it
so basic
but got to have that "sway"
Its sorta like being on a merry go round. feel... : )

What is wrong with this vid. Lets count the ways:
-No demo of move in the beginning so you have no context to follow the instruction.
-The subtitles block out the most important view, the feet, so you cant see what is going on.
-Why the subtitles in the first place?
movesguy 1 year ago
@movesguy - If you hit the CC button at the bottom of the video...that will eliminate the subtitles.

Thanks much.
Please show the normal speed demo at the beginnning.
Also please eliminate the English subtitles as traditionally
no subtitles are needed when they are in the SAME language,
then we can see your feet. Thank you!

Very educational vid. Thanks for uploading this. Would someone tell me what's the best type of shoes to wear for salsa? I'm a guy! And a beginner.
