Actually, Chord/Sam was "the new guy" ... remember he was originally brought in to be Kurt's love interest. Darren/Blaine was only supposed to be on 3 episodes as a 'mentor' for Kurt.

I like Blaine fine and he is no more bland than the rest of the characters but I blame Ryan Murphy for having a big talented cast but only focusing on 2 or 3 characters. I do agree though Tina needs more solos because she is awesome and doesn't get enough screentime.
