  • hahahahahaha

  • god i love james mercer

  • these guys are not indie they are more fringe cigarette low brow

  • WOW that was great, still remains my favorite band, great lyrics and instrumentals

and a sense of humor when they mess up

  • James Is a songwriting god. His attitude just makes the experience even better even though they messed up.

  • even if they mess up they are indie so it dont matter!

  • @skaterstan457 What the heck does that mean "because they are indie"?

  • @CrayonHD

he's just doing it wrong, don't bother.

  • @turkledog yeah I won't. People just get this image of "indie" being some sort of style now. ugh.

  • @CrayonHD

tell me about it. all the ex-scenesters are turning into what they believe is "indie" now. sheesh.

  • i think that was intentional. you would have to try to mess up something that simple.

  • this song is so hard to play, i cant seem to get the strumming right

  • @iobserveutube Really? I've been playing for a few years and I find this song really easy. Remembering the words is the hardest part.

  • They fuck it up when I saw them at the Academy in Manchester

  • Awesome! Great band and this made me laugh !

    They are perfection.

  • The Shins are one of my faverite bands and seeing this video has made me love them even more....

  • I don't care how many times they mess up they are an amazing band.

  • that's how good there are... mess up = applause!

  • EVERYGOOD GROUP should FUCK UP at least once IN A show, TO PROVE THEY 'S JUST LIKE EVERYBODYELSE, AND make the AUDIENCE FEEL BEETER! As long as they recover in the next song..........

  • yeah and to prove they're not faking

  • lol that was awesome, screwing up just makes them look cooler

  • still kick ass

  • its not that the chords are difficult its the words lol.

  • they're still amazing.

  • this song is actually pretty hard to play, the chord structure is hard to follow. thats part of the reason why new slang doesn't have a drum part.

  • it has a drum part. Its pretty much hi-hat and snare then bass 2 times the whole song.

  • yeah, its a very basic drum part that could fit into any time signature

  • Yeah, that's true.

  • I can't wait to see them in Baltimore!!

  • still awesome

  • lol!

  • freakin awesome only shins could do that

  • even on the internet i managed to get behind the kid with the afro

  • @wesleygene

funniest youtube comment of the week

  • @wesleygene haha so true.

  • @wesleygene I literally laughed out loud. good one XD

  • theyre amazing anyway

  • love the sing along, that happens more in the UK

  • what? that happens everywhere, what are you talking about?

  • what happened?

  • It was on purpose, my guess is because it puts a little comedy into a normally sad/serious song. Love the Shins, all that matters is that they made the great song, they can perform it however they want.

  • disagree

  • Agree that ur a douche

  • more like the shut the fuck up douche

  • def on purpose. HILARIOUS !

  • I dont really care if it was deliberate or not, it was funny

  • Everyone makes mistakes

Said the dalek climbing off the dustbin

  • yeah this was supposed to happen. haha. my friend went to see them and they did the same exact thing. haha. its funny because with this song its so perfect...the song is really serious and then out of nowhere its just like...."aw shit!" haa. priceless.

  • This is funny. Good to see a band that can have a good attitude about these kinds of things as well as a sense of humor. Even better, the audience was good about it too!

  • @JDWpwn - There's no surer sign that a band's made it than when they can mess up and still have the crowd on their side.

  • haha

    these guys are great

  • they did that on purpose

  • I don't think so... I was there. Heh.

  • Definately intentional! These guys are professional. They wouldnt screw up their own song that badly, but it is still pretty damn funny.

  • Professionals make mistakes too, you know?

  • haha yeah I know! I only think that it's intentional because they do it ALOT lol. Great song tho...

  • im pretty sure that was intentional. funny though.

  • maybe they hate this song, like robert plant hates stairway to heaven and vanilla ice hates ice ice baby.

  • Who knew vanilla ice even had any songs other than ice ice baby.

  • The shins have messed this song up more times than I have, and it's their song

  • oh my god like yes totally they're genius' and totally awesome too. totally.

  • i was at another concert in saint louis and they did that

    maybe they plan it

    to freak ya out

  • I love The Shins. It's great they're so real...and he didn't freak out.

  • This only proves that they are Live, he he

Great song. One of my three favourites Shins-Song

  • Oh, come on, he forgot the lyrics to the CHORUS? He was obviously either drugged up or drunk because there's no way he could mess that up, it's the same every time.

  • when you're playing guitar, preparing to switch to head register, and surrounded by a bunch of people who aren't necessarily keeping time right, it's easy to mess up. :)

  • Sometimes when you're playing your mind wanders, and usually on the songs you've played a bajillion times.

  • yea it was definitely part of the show. clever though and it was cool hearing it played on an electric guitar. i loved that show, the weather was perfect.

  • i think its cool to see the realness of them, uk, they are just people

and the fact they nailed it in the encore is cool

  • We were at this concert and can confirm that they indeed did the song during their encore. They nailed it and it was ultimately a great concert in Brooklyn -(BTW: they were clothed)

  • cool

    they handled it well indeed

  • it brings out their humanity. we all have our flaws and we all make mistakes. it's nice to be able to laugh at yourslef; they handle it well.

  • im glad level headed human beings like you still exist

  • i think they tried switching places with the bassist.. it sounds horrible >.<

  • hahah, that was really cool for some reason

  • they were very cool about it though..nicely recovered

  • it was hard the first few times i played it but i wouldnt think it would be for the band. they're still awesome tho

  • that was on purpose

  • i really wanna see them live

  • Hahaha! That's cool, actually. What a fun band to watch.

  • hehe, i wouldve been upset that they couldnt play it, but it wouldve been cool because they wouldve always remembered that, and it wouldve been unique and such. haha i love them

  • aw thats kinda sad
