I'm friends with the drummer's son. Actually, I met the drummer personally just last week at one of my other friend's cottages. Now the drummer lives in Vancouver, BC.
YEAAH!!! Thank you!!! I listened to that song so much but never had the chance to see the video. Those guys have a great talent and if it weren't for those management issues, I'm sure their career would have reached higher levels! Anyway, great voice, great musicians, great song!!!
Eight Seconds was a new wave-pop band formed in 1982 in Ottawa, Canada. They are best known for their 1987 top-30 single "Kiss You (When It's Dangerous)" from the full-length album Almacantar. The band's lineup included Andrés del Castillo (vocals/guitar), March Cesare (bass), Frank Levin (keyboards), Scott Milks (drums), and Marc Parent (guitar).
I have been looking for this song for years. I remember hearing at the local watering hole after work on a video jukebox and it always mesmorized me. It is such a cool and unique song with a great/clever sentiment. Bring back 1987 please, please, please!!
Come listen to this song and and many other "lost hits" and "chart wonders" from the 70's (and some 80's) on a free internet station, "OffTheCharts"

Totally forgot about this song! Loved it and still do! Would love to get a hold of a copy for my Ipod! Brings back the memories of an old Seattle New wave radio station KYYX. What a great station in it's time!
@tonfan, ya know coming from Chi-town, in the middle-of-no-where-USA (lol, kinda), I miss the 80's, MuchMusic and MusiquePlus that we used to get on this OBSCENELY large satelite dish we used to have...
I had no idea what Canada was about, let alone they had AWESOME music like this (as well as other music), and the fact they spoke french (ok, quebecois french, and yes, I was 12 yrs old at the time), so believe it or not I learned more about WWII germany in school than canada, so F me I guess..
I like the version on the Retro-Active compliation cd ; extended out for another minute;; starts off with the drums pounding out the signature beat and then the bass kicks in for a quick riff away the song goes!! Also on this cd is a great extended version of Major Tom and Erasure`s chains of love extended out for over 8 minutes!! " still lost in the 80`s"
@WS61979 You are talking about the version included in "Retro Active Rare & Remixed 6", I have the whole Retro Active CD collection, definitely in the "must have" category of every '80s music lover, IMHO :)
@Maxi470 You are so right!!! I have also collected the Retro-active/Retro-Remixed cd`s as they were issued and the good folks at HiBias always seem to pick the best extended tracks or versions for their compliations..i order them thro` the nearest HMV store as I am still leery about ordering over the `net.. I see from their web page that Retro-Active #7 is now available. I have a facebook page ;none nothing yet ;; but will dedicate to 80`s; Sheridan College; and beloved TA; hence WS61979
@WS61979 For some reason this song made me think of A-HA`s Take On Me so i had to check out their video ; still a classic for their use of animation/live action in that time period..."still lost in the 80`s'
@antirepublican123::: Opps!! didn`t know I clicked a negative responce to this; thanks for pointing it out;; most of the music from the 80`s is fun stuff;; it was a good time;; ""'still lost in the 80`s""
This directly taps you into the 80s. I didn't hear this song back then but feel the 80s vibe permeating....what a relief...so lucky to be an 80s child...
Good tunes. Eight seconds stole that bit about pulling the guitar and keyboard out of the ground...from Black Sabbaths video "Knocking at your back door"
love this song! thanks for posting it. Living in Detroit we get the CBC station. I watched too much MTV so my parents cancelled cable. I had to get my fix from somewhere.
Great tune by a great guy and his crew...worked with Andy Del Castillo in Ottawa and he was not only an amazing sales guy but an overall amazing guy. Used to play this over the company intercom and had nothing but smiles.
Thank you Martin Streak (RIP) late, CFNY DJ for introducing me to this song on Sunday nights live to air retro from whiskey saigon....along with numerous others along the way too...this one goes out to you Martin along with anything by The Clash, "best band of all-time" as you used to say.
@perpetual61 Ill stay here with cell phones and computers etc. Music today has just as good songs but they arent the ones getting airplay so you have to dig through the crap to find the good stuff. Top 40 now is the joke.
@perpetual61 I don't have any money but I will give blood and guts. Oh if only I could be 25 years younger too. But I would miss the internet; I won't miss all the gross porn & stupid video games but l would miss the music & information at my fingertips. Still the eighties was like some kind of music renaissance. Oh if only we could...
I just obtained a copy of Almacantar CD few weeks ago. The Where's Beulah track sounds a little different from video on youtube, think it's because they did it over for the Almacantar album. Great music.
What did CANCON have to do with the music being produced? Sure, back in the day it ensured that Canadian up and comers got airplay but it in no way deemed who did or did not get produced or released.
Not to mention that CANCON is now a joke that allows radio stations to play Bryan Adams and Celine Dion ad nauseum.
Live in Hull, but work in Ottawa: not the dull place many think it is. There's plenty of summer activities (e.g the Blues Fest, beginning to get visitors from all over) there.
*sigh* If only I was born in 1959 like my mother I would have been able to live all the fun and fantastic era's of the 20th Century. Unfortunately, I was born in 1991 but at least I got the 90's before the *shudder* 2000's and even though the 2010's are looking pretty good it will never be as amazing as the 80's. Boy I am spewing I missed out on this era, but oh well, my mum pretty much took my sister and I through the 80's until 1997 because she was still stuck in it haha memories...
just caught a bit of this track at the end of another vid by chance, never heard of the song or the group before, thought id look it up, love it, what a thrill to have discovered such a great 80s tune after all this time!
get ready to be pissed off, but... this song was so cool back in the day, i met one of my first boyfriends when this came out, and he and i kissed in a mall at he time! dangerous, back in the 80;s!! oh, i am a guy... always think of him when i hear this,
Great group in the 80's if you guys are still around you need to come and sing your old stuff and maybe new stuff get in touch with a company you guys could come back that would be cool and maybe sing this song agian " kiss you when its dangerous...
i used to have the album this song came from on cd...i had it in a pile of cds i was selling ,which i didnt realise.I have never seen the album again...i miss it ...was great for playing in the car....hope there is a re-release of the album at some point.
I think that the reason a lot of the music from the 80's is so loved, (aside from the whole "back in the good old days" aspect) is that for the most part, these bands wrote their own music, played their own instruments, and spent years together striving to "make it". Just my opinion
The music of today does not have the flavour like this does. I was very young in the 80's, too young to really know the era i was living in. Now the music is crap and i listen to all retro. what a song this is.
I did live in the 80's, and yes, this era's music had flavor like no other. I still love the music and video's. Too bad, that most of the must now is just a bunch of bee-bop, no style and no flavor.
@michealingram .ur right now is crap i listen to depeche m, u2, bronky b, images in v, rush, parachute c, yazoo, pet shop b, level 42, tears for f, spoons, platinum b, honeymoon s, i even have the much more retro for 5 bucks i enjoy...
@michealingram u need to be in rogers cable and ask for the much more retro channel is 703 the channel number and its only 5 bucks per month but 2 months free the first time..its lovely they play northen pikes, grapes of wrath, gowan, strange advance pure 80s, 90s music.
I was trying to remember what song it was that I haven't heard in years and how it went. This is it! Love this song!

I think that the reason a lot of the music from the 80's is so loved, (aside from the whole "back in the good old days" aspect) is that for the most part, these bands wrote their own music, played their own instruments, and spent years together striving to "make it". Just my opinion
Kalimata101 2 years ago 25
everything today is pre packaged by the corporate people. i agree with your opinion in full. either way the music im happy, is still alive

The music of today does not have the flavour like this does. I was very young in the 80's, too young to really know the era i was living in. Now the music is crap and i listen to all retro. what a song this is.

Indeed! :-)

I did live in the 80's, and yes, this era's music had flavor like no other. I still love the music and video's. Too bad, that most of the must now is just a bunch of bee-bop, no style and no flavor.
