Why did hp stop producing this model? I cant find it anywhere on their site, there is only the special edition which does not have a decent graphic card did they stop producing 15 inch laptops?

They want to increase the sales of their HDX 16t and also wanted to switch to the 16:9 screens...so they released an equivalent dv6 series...dv5t was a kick-ass model...minus the cooling system and the amount of heat it generates lol.

I got the Dv5-1139TX, apparently the newer Dv5-11xx and Dv5-12xx models don't come with Fingerprint Sensor and BlueTooth anymore. :|

Well the volume button is a problem found on every HP, I have the HDX16 and I dont use the volume touch panel because its bugged as hell. But who gives an X about it. Its a great laptop for its price and I can do what a Mac book which costs 10x more, can do. So yes I am happy with it.

I just ordered one for my b-day. The notebook is pretty cheap for all the performance you get. I just don't know what the GPU is??? Anyone please explain this to me, I heard that the 512mb 9600m GT can not be completely harnessed unless the computer has a good GPU... P.S. I got the 2.4ghz 1066fsb, 9600m GT. Is this computer overclockable? And do you think I need to??? Thanks alot

I used the NB0915 coupon. Its $500 off but from it taking away the instant rebate it is $400 off. Is that what you mean? As of right now though, I managed to get another $200 off and credited back to me because of the price diff. and I order a battery (12 cell)but returned it b/c wrong one but they let me keep the $100 discount. So total spent was $970 for me.

1st $100 came from price difference. Once the laptop went cheaper (graphics and processor) I called and got it credited. Funny thing was that 5 days later the price goes back up by $150. 2nd $100 came when I went to purchase the 12 cell b/c they had it on the website. the rep said it would cost $160 but i told her it was BS cause its only $49 upgrade. So she gave a $100 discount. But I got tHE DV5000 12 cell. i returned it, n they let me keep the $100 discount. they don't take discounts back.

CONTINUED: after i returned it, i started to call them n argue. but they said that the only way i can get a 12-cell is if i return my notebook n have it configured again and pay the diff of $20 for the 12-cell. They said that they haven't even release the 12-cell 4 US yet for public to buy. you can only get 12-cell if your laptop is conffigured to have one. the batt is in china. But on the 14th is my last day of the 21-day policy n Im just goin to pretend to return so i can get hooked up again.

It will last if you look after it there might be a few problems with it and youll have to get it serviced atleast once in 6 months but if you look after it im sure it would last you 5 years although most likley be outdated by then im getting this laptop 2moro its real slick .

No thats the dv5z don't get it b.c this version come with centrino 2 and the dv5z which is out now come out with AMD Turion. I don't like turion with my tx1000. dv5t and dv7t are coming out after july 14th. Really probably gonna be worth the sort wait.

i agree that the new "montevina" intel processors will probably beat out the new "puma" amd processors, but have you seen the GPU performance of the Radeon 3200 IGP that comes with the dv5z? It's supposedly as good as the 8400M GS which is amazing for an IGP... plus if you add the 3450 dedicated graphics, it can do crossfire with the 3200 which boosts performance even more... who knows how the x4500 intel IGP will perform? sure the 9600M will be awesome, but it will also be pricey!

Both the Intel and AMD models of the DV5 are now available. They weren't when I bought my notebook. I opted for the DV6700T. So far, I haven't regretted it. I've heard some not-so-flattering things about the DV5. I think I made the best choice for me.
