It is great to see him here in younger years at the height of his vocal prowess.
But the current Manilow, a bit more mature, sings beautifully still, with both lovely ballads and many new great standards! The man is just one iconic singer and performer!
Thanks so much...it is beautiful...and makes so much sense...i just mused on my fb page that he is a beautiful BEING OF LIGHT...and yes...i recall his work being ridiculed..though i never understood it...not at all...very wonderful...the beauty of the words and music...so Lovely...and makes the word LOVE really COME TRUE!!
What an awesome job of remastering! Hats off to you. This 1975 Manilow song is his best in my opinion. I can remember listening to this when it came out.
Was this encoded into the QS or SQ quad systems from the CD-4 record? Had that been done, it could be heard in essentially the four channels that were on the record rather than the rear channels simply folded into the fronts, as will happen when CD-4 records are played in stereo.
Be still my beating heart.....Nothing moves me like Barry-esp. this song and this look of his. What a freakin' hunk. And that voice.... Good thing YouTube wasn't around in the '70's - I never would have left my house. Thanks for posting!
I have heard this song for many years and to me, it's one of his best hits. I have been a Barry Manilow fan for years since a lot of his songs are perfect for my vocal range as a singer.
Music is the elixier of the soul - especially song like this from a true performer ... takes me back to my first girlfriend who adored him - i remember watching his live UK tours on TV ... classic.
Barry Manilow has been a Part of My Life since 1975 . That's 35 Great Years I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks a Lot Mr. Manilow you Definitely Write a Lot of Great Songs.
TERRIFIC JOB as usual! Originally written for David Cassidy from his autobiographical LP on RCA by Bruce Johnston of Beach Boys fame, who also performed on that album. The 'story' of this song fits into the 'theme' created for the Cassidy album titled 'The Higher They Climb, The Harder They Fall'. But as we all know, Manilow had the 'hit' with this track. This quad mix sounds more 'dynamic' and the string & horn section are more predominant than the Stereo version we all know and love...
@tubeie07 - Thanks, tubeie07! I was aware of the David Cassidy connection to Bruce Johnston. It is amazing how sometimes it may also be about timing. The Captain & Tennille also recorded the song earlier that same year as Manilow on their "Love Will Keep Us Together" album.
I'm not the biggest Manilow fan, but this mix-down is quite redemptive and impressive to boot. I can only imagine what it sounds like in a four-channel environment. Shame that YT doesn't preserve sound beyond two-channel stereo. Cheers.
my mother was looking for this song...i also like it!!
Mandy is also my favorite :)
