VERY nice. Iv'e only built small people powered boats but Iv'e been lusting after sail powered boats, and to have one that was brought into being by my own hand... now that's what I am talking about!
These boats are beautiful. I wanted to build one (still contemplating actually), but there's just one thing that turns me off. The design of the hull means that the cabin has no height in it whatsoever. It's like a flat bottom design layed on a thick keel and in turn the keel is what gives the boat its shape.
Although the cabin is what adds to the charm of the boat, you are correct - it is only about 3 feet hight. If you don't plan to stay overnight and only use the boat as a day sailer, then don't add the cabin. There are examples on the web of this modification. Without the cabin, you will still have a very stable boat which is a lot easier (and faster) to build and fun to sail with plenty of room to move around.
Great job! Really! You should be proud. I hope to be a builder of a Weekender, and your well put together video has given me inspiration (and ideas). She looks stunning in white. Well done, I hope you enjoy her for many years to come!
So 3 years later, hows the boat?
