  • Rocket !!!!!!!!!

  • what type of lunch rod did you use on the saturn?

  • @NinjaAlien100

That's a standard Estes Porta-Pad launch rod. The paper model LUT and Launch Platform are just positioned on top of the Porta Pad for the "look" of an actual Saturn V launch complex.

  • cool but i waited so looooooooooooooooooooooooong to see the saturn v

  • Nice Saturn 5, what is your secret to get him balanced so good with those small wings? i am trying to make rockets like that with small wings but they always spin :(

  • if only they could go into orbit :(

  • Nice video! Congratulations. What engine did you use for the Saturn V? Its a single engine, right?

  • @roberteden

Yes, standard Estes model rocket engines (B & C types) will power the Dr. Zooch Saturn V.

  • Awesome. Copeland was a genius stroke.

  • the tower is clear

  • My favorites to build and fly in the 60s was the Javelin and the Nike Estes rockets.

  • lolz giant pencil

  • I prefer to grind my own powder, but this was a nice set of launches. what altitude were you estimating with these? Ps Loved The Saturn V. scale is my final frontier, rock on.

  • I enjoyed every second of this vid. Very well done!

  • @Toppervision1

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!!!

  • skip to 2:48 for start of saturn v

  • not to be mean, but you replayed the rockets to much in my opinion.

  • thanks for the vid , brought back great memories , i always dreamed of a saturn v with the proper launch pad . hats off to ya !

  • @Rct3andCP

Yes, all rockets were safely recovered. Thanks for watching.

  • Did you get all rockets back? plz answer

  • @Rct3andCP

Yes, all rockets were recovered successfully.

  • Nice model, awesome looking platform, cool music, & great video. Thanks for sharing.

  • 4:47, Amazing Picture

  • i like the power of the D composit reloadable airow tech motors at 9 pound of thrust, but this motor will also take E's and F reloads, if i read it coorectley the E motor has only 4 1/2 pounds of thrust but burns a second longer, i have some E reloads havent tryed them yet, i use a 24-40 airow tech composit motors, a fat motor is not more powerful but a long motor is, ive only bought one rocket in my life im 61 years old i make my own from scrach a band saw and belt sander helps a great deal..!

  • nice music .

  • cant wait for my dr.zooch kit to arrive!!

  • Great I like people that like to do great things

  • You should have filmed your Saturn V launch at 120 frames per second.. much was missed between your frames.

    Otherwise.. that was beautiful ! ! !

  • nice! what size moder you using c

  • 5:03 whoo! they made it, nice job

  • This rocket right here is the most amazing rocket ive ever seen i am going to buy one right noww !!!

  • I am doing Model Rocketry in my Junior and Senior year for JROTC cause of these rockets

  • Awesome video and rocket launches! The design and construction of the launch tower is impressive to say the least. Great photos as well as a perfect choice of music. Thanks for uploading all the information on the construction and design process as well. Keep up the great work!

  • @FallingPear

Thanks for the kind words and compliments. Hope you enjoyed this video.

  • @CAPNDigital I like the theme “the common man” very appropriate for the Saturn V.

That’s one small rocket one giant leap and recovery for model-kind! LOL I like it I want one LOL

  • @CAPNDigital You should launch it again only next to the beach with recovery boats in the ocean to fish it out! How does the parachute mechanism work on it does it have small pyrotechnics or does it just pop out once it reaches a cretin height?

  • @EmpireLS56KW

The parachute is ejected during the final phase of the model rocket engine's propellant burn. An ejection charge essentially pops the nose cone off the body tube and viola! the chute comes out (and hopefully opens -lol - don't pack it too tight).

    Thanks for watching...

  • @CAPNDigital I Goggled and I see rockets don’t cost that much. I guess I might get one and go to wide open area park for some fun.

  • wat size engines do you use? the highest I've done are E

  • @josh71111 The Dr.Zooch Saturn V is designed to fly with standard A,B & C size engines. Remember this is a smaller scale version of the rocket and doesn't require the larger, more powerful D & E class engines.

  • @CAPNDigital didnt say it did

  • i felt like such a dork watching the whole video...Yaaay!

    Great launch!

  • Very Cool! Thanks

  • just bought the kit

  • if you only want to see the s.v. go to 2:45

  • very nice, great eye for detail!

  • what would be cool if it had actual stages that broke of and another engine ignited like the real thing

  • Pretty neat, guys! I was wondering, though... What was the gantry tower for the Saturn V model made of?

  • @spacetownman

The LUT was built with Card Stock and Elmer's White Glue.

Based on original plans of the structure and modified in Google SketchUp.

  • @spacetownman paper

  • @spacetownman CAPN Digital Rocketry is pleased to introduce another successful day of model rocket launches concluding with the premier of the ant-scale (18 inches tall) Dr. Zooch designed Saturn V. I designed and built the scaled Launch tower and base from cardstock paper.

  • from 4:05...lol XD

  • where did u find the realistic launch pad?

  • @christopherJude1010

I designed and built it with card stock based on actual plans of the original LUT and scaled (approx.) to match Dr. Zooch designed Saturn V model rocket.

  • @christopherJude1010

The Launch Umbilical Tower (LUT) model was made from paper Card Stock and was designed and built by me.

I used Google SketchUp and the original plans of the actual structure to approximate the scale to match the Dr. Zooch Saturn V model rocket..

    Thanks for watching

  • Very nicely done! Love the different camera angles and the stills of the Saturn V.

For those asking about what song is playing for the Saturn V - that is Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man".

  • how do you set them off?

  • @veedubstar1975

electronically using Estes brand model rocket engines, igniters and launch controller (powered by batteries).

  • impressive

  • that was really cool

    5 stars

  • you should put a First person view camera on that and see what the video will look like! xD

  • Absolutely amazing!! Great video, great music and fantastic rockets. Huge well done to all those involved. A truely epic production.

    Regards,

    JJAB99

  • Fantastic video! Only wish there were more shots of the rockets going all the way up :)

  • lol those feather weight rockets like the swift are cool

  • AMAZING Video! It brought back great childhood memories as I build and launched MANY of the rockets featured here. Alas, the Saturn V has still been a dream of mine. Nice to see a fellow dork who really knows how to shoot, and cut a PROPER model rocket video! Well done, and kudos to all involved!

  • @FanRantProduction

We're glad you enjoyed the video. Model rocketry can be quite rewarding for yound and old and we felt the majestic Saturn V deserved a majestic video.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • What song is that when the Saturn V shows up?

  • @Banshee1100

The song is called "Fanfare for the common man".

  • Great Upload

  • lol skywriter giant pencil

  • lol

  • that launch pad is amazing

  • Awesome, I've built that exact paper model too. Sweet mod to make that bird fly.

  • COOL i have a estes FLASH * just assembled it and excited to try it !!

  • GREAT JOB AWESOME ROCKET AND REALISTIC LAUNCH!!!!!!

  • where can i get the saturn v

  • That had to be the most epic video ever

  • what's the song being played around 3:06?

  • i want one

  • awesome rocket did you make it out of a kit, or from scratch. if from a kit where did you get it

  • @xxman341

Rocket is from Dr. Zooch - see description.

Launch Tower model - paper model designed by me.

Launch supplies (engines, launch rod, controller) by Estes

  • were did u get that launch pad for the saturn v

  • how much dose the saturan v rocket cost

  • thanks man

  • thanks man i should use that for my estes rockets

  • what is that blue thing on the launch rod

  • That is blue painters tape - wrapped around to bottom of the launch rod to keep certain rockets from resting directly on the blast deflector plate.

  • what is that blue thing on the launch rod

  • Looks like a paper model off the net. Good job getting it to fly though. Am glad it went well.

  • what did you use as a propellant on the saturn other than that amazing vid

  • Is that Saturn V a multi-stage like the real one?

  • Cool

     r the best

  • i like that saturn V rocket,,,

    good design this model

  • I built a 3rd stage Saturn 5 in the late 70's. This one looks like it only has one stage and one engine.

Mine had 5 G engines in the first stage, 3 F engines in the second stage and a single engine in the third stage.

I remember distinctly that we never found the 2nd and 3rd stage, therefore never launched a second time.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the 3-stage Saturn 5 rocket online?

    -Any help would be great.

  • are they reusable ?

don't think im stupid just bec. i asked

    i don't have one!

  • good one, entertaining

  • Great Video!! Awesome slow-motion ;)

  • Great video Capn'

  • Estes hasn't come very far in 30 years. My best friend and I were launching those in the 70's. I remember the SR-71 and Red Max being our favorites. We also had a 3-stage rocket, and one that took photos with the old 110 film cartridges. There was also another company that made F and G engines, but they burned so long that we could never recover anything launched with them.

  • @mprocino - I built the stage 3 Saturn 5 in the late 70's and I remember it well.

Does anyone know where I can buy this one again? It had 5 engines in the bottom stage, 3 in the 2nd stage and 1 in the final.

I know we never recovered the second and third stage, so, we never shot it a second time.

Any help would be great! -power

  • great little video. good music selection

  • how many engines do you have ???

  • I wish I the sky writer

  • epic, didnt make it to the moon either though

  • This park looks like a park in Glendale AZ called Sahuaro ranch park. Thats were we launch our rockets.

  • i have a model rocket that goes 600ft 183m its impressive it also has the launch pad

  • What is the music playing during the Saturn V launch?

  • From the Movie Band of Brothers

  • Right on!

  • yea the wizard is the best to me

  • Do you have the program plan available for the tower?

  • where i can get those thrusters?

  • Cool saturn V, but you should make the wings a tiny bit larger, it will look more scale and you'll have a lot more stability

  • The rocket was built from the Dr. Zooch kit and constructed to the Dr.'s specifications. Flight stability was great.

  • yeah i don't doubt the stability is great, lol but that's the fun thing about model rockets/planes/boats/cars.... You can modify them and make them better then the originals. I dunno if you've ever seen Rcsuperpowers videos on youtube, but they do some pretty cool stuff with cheap little RC electric airplanes

  • The launch tower and pad for the Saturn V are incredible, how long did those take to make?

  • From concept, research, design and completion, the total time was about 3 weeks.

  • nice i wanna do that

  • A B6-4 was used for the maiden flight. Dr. Zooch recommends a C6-5 for a really impressive launch. It is a Saturn V after all.

    Thanks for watching

  • nice

  • great production value.

  • The body tube diameter is 1/2 inch and length is 1 3/4 inch.. It is basically an AT size engine mount tube. The engine is wrapped with masking tape and held in by friction. During the ejection charge the motor is kicked out and both engine and rocket use tumble recovery. (The nose cone is glued on)

  • The "Little Joe" was the nickname we gave to the Estes kit 220 Swift. The 1/2A motors are the best choice. Ours was a bit overpowered with an A3-4T. You can see in the video (around 1:00) when it takes off it starts to veer off a bit because the motor was a bit too strong. As for the Specs. you can get that from the actual kit sold at various hobby stores and online.

  • how high did the saturn 5 go

  • By Far....this is the best video i've seen of model rocketry!!! And i'm just a beginner!! Where do you get the cameras from?? GREAT VID!

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. The cameras are Sony HDV cameras (HDR-HC3) that we own. Bouth them at Best Buy.

  • how did u get that launch pad?

  • I designed and built the Launch Tower from card stock using the original plans and scaling them in SketchUp. Printed on colored paper and then a LOT of cutting and gluing. The actual launch pad and launch rod are a standard Estes porta-pad sitting underneath. Thanks for watching.

  • I built a 1/100 scale Saturn V launch tower for my Estes and Centuri Saturn Vs back in 1971 using colored card stock. It was displayed in my junior high school. I still have the rockets but the tower fell apart due to its fragile white glue construction about two decades later.

  • hey i just built the new model of the Estes "Wizard" but one of the fins is a little crooked. How will that affect the flight?

  • Most likely the rocket will spin during liftoff. If it goes horizontal things could get crazy. Check out our first Rocket Launch Day 1 video for just such an event.

  • Ive built a saturn v rocket almost same heights and all. But can a C engine carry a 3.7 ounce rocket? anybody know?

  • weve got a rocket exactley like this one

  • I've seen the Saturn V rocket somewhere, can't remember though.

  • Fantasic Video! I love the tower that you made it looks like it took a lot of time to do. Well done! Look forward to seeing more rocket lauch videos!

  • nice tower wher can i get on like that ?please tell

  • Great Video! Definately 5 stars! It must have took some time to make.

  • 5:41 why me thinkinh E.T.? xD

SO awesome video! very nice job! :D

  • so cool! the launch tower was so cool

  • i had a rocket similar to that one. it got stuck on the launch pad and melted a hole through it.

  • awesome man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how do you make it ???

  • Great Job! Love the Model rockets!

  • how many times to you need to sharpen the pencil? LOL

  • EXCELLENT video.

  • good job :)

  • 5 stars! amazing video!

  • Great job of scoring and editing. Loved your flair of the dramatic. Great flights. Keep up the good work and thanks.

  • Way to go Capn Digital. Great Video and awesome flights.

  • WAY COOL! Liam loved the video.

  • OUTSTANDING video! You made the Saturn V look fantastic! Nicely done. Wes Oleszewski, Dr. Zooch Rockets

  • Thanks for the compliment and thanks for a really great model rocket design.

  • Another OUTSTANDING video by Capn' Digital!!!!!!!!!!! ROCKET LAUNCHING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
