The sound is out of sync by 1:38!!! The audio for the old guy that you see at 7:00 doesn't chime in until 8:38. For a doc about the importance of sound, I really want to see it with the audio in sync.
She was absolutely correct when she said that all focus is on appearance and not substance. I don't care about whether the music video looks great or the artist is half-naked. I don't see this when I'm listening to the song on my Ipod. I want a song that sounds good in and of itself. If the music video is great too all the better (fx. Billie Jean by Micheal Jackson).
it's a really good sign when the entertainment corporate entities main target customer ( 12 to 14 year olds ) starts to feel sick from the crap they are feeding them. people are getting tired of being mindless consumers, we want to go back to being human beings again.
I grew up in the 70s rock and roll era where so much talent was born. I continued to listen to various new music probably until the mid to late 90s, then, other than a rare song here and there, stopped listening because, as so many have said, it's talentless noise and nothing more. I can listen to and enjoy music from the 40's all the way up to the mid 90s, but absolutely loathe most of the junk out there. I would have no problem at all if nothing new were created from now on!
I am so sad when I see the definition of music today. Most of those so called 'singers' only make noise! True Musicians and singers are rare commodity these days.
The more we ignore music in our schools, and the more we put our kids in front of video games and tv's the worse this issue will become. Instant gratification is what america has become. Thanks god for siruis radio!
@thedukewestern actually its the same being done all over the world. Its like... people like us use the internet to download the music that we want for free lets say or 99 cents, not making our beloved artists that famous. whilst the other internet challenged people (that are in majority) just see the music thats kept in front of them by the corporates and they just end up buying the whole CD without even bothering to get into tough cookies like torrents or filestubes. Its getting crazy, UNITE !
If we wanna save hip hop & music in general,we need to go directly to the source.THE ADVERTISERS.The radio stations,MTV,BET,etc don't care about quality as long as they're gettin their ad money. We need to send letters and/or emails to the advertisers and let them know that we're not satisfied with the radio & are turning off the radio & music TV.If enough of us do that, the advertisers will put pressure on the stations to make a better product if they wanna keep their business.
Thank you so much for putting this up,i found this on accident, but am so glad i did. i couldn't agree more with the views of most of the people interviewed in this documentary. I've been a DJ for 15 years.....and i almost hate doing gigs now because of the lame request i get. I will share this with everyone i know.
oh my good this is so amazing. I love Ray Charles

@thedukewestern Maybe you should listen to a soundtrack or two if you actually think game music is a cause of decline.
