I have the same Computer in the Video (AST-690). It runs smoothly and everything but Vista kind of slows down the performance overall. I've upgraded to 2GB RAM from my 1GB. It really makes the difference.

My computer has Pentium D 935 running at 3.00GhZ which has 2 cores supporting the computers usage.

Also upgrading the graphics card (Asus EN8500GT 512MB). It was a litle extra money I had but It was worth it if you playing high res games.

Recommended upgrade RAM! Really helps the computer

i have the T630 and i upgraded to the HIS x1550 graphics card and the ramm up to 2 gig and it runs most games really well,some of the games that have come out in the last two years i have to tune the graphics back but otherwise no worries

It will work, BUT I'm pretty sure that you may need a PSU upgrade because the 9600 GT requires, I think 450W PSU maybe? But yea, check your PSU and upgrade if you need to.

Do u people know what the hell you are talking about. First off this computer model is about a yr old. Second they have this model at Circuit City for $299, with Vista and I have played around with it and it is pretty fast for $300. Add another gig and you are doing very well. Also who ever spends $200 on a PS should get smacked, cause I just got mine which is 500w Ultra for $35, and installed myself, very easy. I also added a ATI 2600hd video card for $80(tiger Direct)

If you want to play games.

As it only has a 250W power supply, I must spend another 200 dollars to get a DECENT power supply AND an extra god-knows-how-much for an expert to install it. On top of that a 150 dollar GPU to play MODEST games, this crap computer cost me about 1,200 dollars at least.

Yes, it is bad for gaming. I am currently on it. All it needs is a better graphics card and the gaming will be fine. It is quite fast zooming on the internet. I say its a good buy.

I got it for 800 AUD.

However instead of Pentium D I got a Pentium 4 HT 3.0 ghz...Not sure if its better or worse.

Planning to upgrade to Geforce 7600 (or 7900)GT/ 2 gig DDR2 RAM (Acer says the max is 2 gig, but the motherboard website says 4 gigs, so how do I know whose telling the truth!) and Intel Core 2 Duo.

lol, 1 gig of ram isn't enough for vista, thats the bare min, i would highly recommand getting 2 gigs with vista at PC6400.

not true. vista uses 717 MB of ram on idle with nothing running. so i recommend 2gb of ram for vista. Im back to using XP after vista. i have 3gb of ram and vista was slow. quad core system, ati x1900, so i dont have a crappy system.

For me it doesn't use 717MB idle. It used to run 630MB Idle then I tweaked it slightly and now uses 450MB Idle.

Vista runs perfectly fine for me though, not slow whatsoever.
